very good for the style. a lot of interesting things going on here. chocolate, french roast...with smoke? pours real good in the 16 oz titan glass. not particularly my thing. nice seperation of malt and hop. cool march and october sipper . that thinness makes this a really artsy brew.

Mar 21, 2010 A: Pours a dark brownish black with a solid brown head. Okay retention and some spotty lace.
S: Aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and mild dark fruits.
T: Roasty for sure. Lots of coffee and chocolate. Not much sweetness going on here. Light floral hops in the finish.
M: Medium, solid carbonation.

Mar 19, 2010 Pours a very nice deep ruby with a healthy, dark brown head that is slightly rocky, has good retention and fair lacing. Looks great- bubbles are a little big and carbonation a little high. A bit of poopy diaper in the nose, roasted malt, sweet doppelbock raisin notes. Taste is a little harsh: ashy, toasty but eventually some nice smooth vanilla comes through. Still pretty mediocre.

Mar 13, 2010 Pours a dark black with tan head. Aroma is of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Taste is of mocha, bit of bitter chocolate and some caramel. Palate is quite nice. Overall a very good porter that has a nice blend of chocolate, coffee, caramel flavor and bitterness without one dominating the others.

Mar 9, 2010 This was awesome, a dark brown brew which forms a nice, tan head when poured. Smells of coffee/smoke. The taste is of bitter chocolate and coffee with some caramel notes. What is great about this beer is how smooth it goes down, very easy to drink. I had two of these in about ten minutes, ten awesome minutes. I am definitely buying more of these.

Feb 25, 2010 Pours a black color with a medium head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee, hint of caramel. You really get hit with charcoal and licorice on the intial swig. Has some hidden bitter. But the charcoal overpowers for me. A bit dry too.

Feb 21, 2010 Pours opaque black with a very creamy head. Smells of raisins, chocolate and coffee. Tastes of burnt coffee but with minimal bitterness. A good beer, but doesn’t really seem to stand out.
