Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottled conditioned.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and Crystal malts; Whitbread Goldings, Progress, Goldings and Fuggles hops.
The first Itchen Valley beer, launched in 1997. The name comes from the original brewers being godfathers when the brewery was founded.
A crisp, distinctive quaffing ale with a bittersweet edge. Full in flavour, golden in colour with a unique hoppiness which comes from using four varieties of hop.

Cask (handpump) @ The Sir John Castle, London, Greater London England.
Clear medium amber color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fresh berry, toffee, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090803]

Cask@Sir John Oldcastle. Amber colour, small white creamy head. Aroma is wooden, mildly nutty with some hints of dark fruits. Flavour is caramel malts, wood, some nuttyness as well as mild earthy notes.

Cask @ pub Wenlock Arms, London. A clear copper colored beer, with a small light beige head. The aroma is fruity, berries and peach. It’s also sweet with a little bitter. The taste of a little caramel, moving ovet, to a little chocolate. It’s fruity, more sweet than bitter. The aftertaste is sweet with some bitter.

Cask @ GBBF 2008. Pours a plae amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with some hoppy hints. Sweetish malty fruity caramel flavor. Has a sweetish malty caramel finish.

Cask at the Market Porter. Golden amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is quite leafy with soft earthy/flinty character. Quite herbal but without much in the way of distinctiveness. Orange marmalade and yeasty/earthy flavour. Light malts. Pretty average.
