mcberko (41820) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 9, 2023
UPDATED: NOV 9, 2023 On tap at The Kernel, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out a wonderful roasted malt character, with light espresso and a nice piney hop character — almost like this is a black IPA. Flavour is along the same lines, with moderate roasted malt upfront, bitter dry espresso notes, and earthy piney hop underneath. Now that’s a bold dry stout, definitely worthy of being the top 95+ percentile in the style. Excellent.

Rune (24564) - Tromso, NORWAY - OCT 12, 2023
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2023 Draught, 4.6 % abv, half-pint at The Rake. Shared with Finn. Ruby-black body, decent fawn-coloured head, fair lacing. Inviting smell of toffee and grassy hops. Early onset of caramel malts gradually balanced with citrus peels. Roasted bitter finish. Pleasing. (London, 29.09.2023).

theprof (4289) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - AUG 29, 2023
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2023 Poured dark brown body tan lace top. Mocha aroma. Medium sweet to bitter more coffee in the background. Medium bodied smooth texture average to soft carbonation and a bitter finish. Is this the best hop variation among their dry stouts?

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2019 330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Feb '19 courtesy of Mike. Pours dark, misty, tan head. Aroma is good roasty, chocolate. Taste is dry indeed, chocolate, excellent use of Galaxy just to lift things a bit, nice roast. Great dry stout.

Bottle from the Fyne brewery shop. Black with a frothy tan head. Nice mocca aroma. The taste is quite bitter and a touch metallic. Burnt notes with coffee and chocolate. Nice.

jmgreenuk (19374) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - MAR 7, 2018
Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a fizzy, short-lived light tan head and plenty of bubbles. The aroma is malt, grassy nettle hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big woody nettle hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Closer to a black IPA than a stout.

Bottle, hotel beer in Brussels, from Malt Attacks. Dark brown color, close to opaque, nice brown head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate and licorice. Taste is earthy unsweetened raw cocoa, espresso grounds. Delicious.
