12 oz bottle. Warm brown in the glass, with red burst of color when held to the light. Murky, with cream colored head to lace. Nose is sweet malt and brown sugar and alcohol, like a barleywine. Taste is much lighter than nose. Definite sweetness, and very light malt. Fairly empty finish. I’ll have to let it warm, but as of now, the nose is better than the mouth.

Pours a deep brown with a nice off white head. The nose is biscuity, malt, and roasted grains. The taste is sweet malt, some low bitter notes, caramel, and nut. This is a good cheap brown ale.

2/7/09 from 12oz bottle. Aroma is rich and malty, with more sweetness than roast and a faint smoky character. Appearance is clear brown with a well maintained off white head. Flavor is sweet-sour roast forward with no caramel and very low bittering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a low carb texture. Overall, quite good at first, but gets tough to have more than one as it warms even a touch.

12 oz bottle. Crystal clear light brown with a medium off white head. The aroma is bread, roasted grains and a very light Pac NW hop. Flavor is mostly a sweet malt base with a bit of bitterness and even some sourness in there too. Medium body and a clean finish. This is a good beer from Deschutes and after rumors that they won’t be making this one anymore I thought I would give it a rating.

12 oz. bottle from trade. Pours a clear brown with a small off white head. The aroma is slightly nutty, light chocolate powder, some fruits. The flavor has light fruits, lightly nutty, some roasted malt, and a tiny bit of sourness (?). Light-medium bodied and a bit thin.

A - Pours a clear light copper color with a finger of off white head. S - Light roast aroma, there is a brown ale smell for sure. Not the most aromatic beer. T - Nice subtle malt sweetness and with some light hop flavors. Not overly complex, a satisfying brew. M - Thin bodied, medium carbonation that is a bit stingy. D - Nothing wrong with this beer. You could do much worse than this brown ale. Another solid beer from Deschutes.
