Commercial Description:
Full bodied and luxuriously smooth it is the combination of traditional stout hops, an extra pinch of roast barley and crystal clear Irish water that make O’Hara’s Celtic Stout a delicious stout with just enough malt sweetness to balance that discernible roast bite.

8th August 2008. On tap at GBBF. Smooth but not thick. Dry and mildly toasted malt. Slighyly bitter finish. Okay. Unremarkable.

Black with tan head. Roasty but mild aroma. Roasty, dry and astringent. Nothing overwhelming here.

50cl bottle poured into a pint glass. Huge cinnamon coloured head which slowly subsided. Very little lacing. The aroma is of baking chocolate, bitter sweet. The mouth feel is a little oily, with a chocolaty after taste. Mmm, a very nice pint of stout.

Aroma of smoke, tar and new-laid asphalt. A bit too smoked to my taste even though the rating is good.

Poured out, take a wild guess what it looked like? That’s right - black. Almost like an Imperial Stout, but not as viscous as one. There was almost no head but a nice tan film left behind and a slight bubble to the brew. It had a nice aroma of hops and the spice of barley. There was also an overall roasted smell to the beer. It tasted slightly creamy to start but the bodied bite from the barley and spices kicked in. The spicy flavor sticks around for a little while while the hops flows in at the end. The texture was a little watery - reminiscent of Guinness. It had a little body but it was a tad thin. The flow was a little sudden between flavors. I don’t think there was enough hops in this beer - hops/barley ratio was off.

On tap at Collins Pub. Pours a near black fading to brown with a thick cappuccino head. Aroma is basic brown sugar and caramel while the taste is much the same, with a bit of lactic thrown in. Not the best.

50cl bottle poured into a pint glass. Bottle says O’hara’s Irish Stout. Black with ample creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit, oak. Flavor is the same. Finish is dry, slightly bitter. This beer is yummy.

Bottle. Cold coffee aroma with some milk chocolate and sweetness on the nose. Black body with tan head. Thin body texture with a good dose of sweetener. Also some good roasted coffee flavor in the mix. Sweetness overpowers the coffee on the palate. Decent brew.
