It's got that great hazlenut nose, and complimenting that, a pleasing malt aromas. Here's where this beer excels. The flavor. Oh, this is what I think of when I hear brown ale. The hazlenut is just simply delectable. The malts back that up with a great barrage of flavors. Creamy palate and full bodied make this one hell of a beer. Without a doubt, one of, if not the best brown ale out there Enjoyit (1840), Vadum, Denmark

Smells of maple sugar, tastes of malt, maple, caramel, and nuts. Very smooth to drink. I certainly enjoyed my 22oz. bottle and look forward to another. SDbruboy (1836), San Diego, California, USA

Aroma is sweet and biscuity - kind of like sugar cookies and spice. Sweet malty flavor, molasses, maple syrup, nuttiness and light spice. Medium body and nice creamy carbonation. Nice holiday ale - flavorful and delicious. Palidor19 (1826), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 19, 2002 Given my love of smokier, roastier (or caramelly + hoppy = Poppy Jasper) Brown Ales, and relative dislike of nutty Browns, I approached this with some trepidation. No worries...a fine beer here, to be sure. Has a lot to recommend it; a fair palate, although pretty carbonated (too much?), a good hop finish. In the end, however, it is just far too hazelnutty for my tastes. Aroma, flavor finish, all over this thing you will find hazelnut. My wife would even like it in her morning coffee, I’m sure. sneagrams3 (1808), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Tasted at almost room temperature. Total nutty nose! Toasty and spicy nose. Medium bodied with tight effervescence. Spicy nutty flavors. Touch toffee. Dry finish with a lingering subtle cocoa sweet note. Toffee and fudge. Nutty brownies. Roasted nuts. Malt dominant. Hops are bitter yet short lived. Tasty! douglas88 (1804), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
