Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Almost zero head. Marmalade color. Bouquet smells sweet like a cross between strawberries and cotton candy. Texture is crisp initially, and then warms up. Bitter. Citrus. This is a good beer, I enjoyed it!

Amber color, small off-white head; sweet malty aroma with woody notes and hints of smoke; medium body, smooth carbonation; malty sweet, perhaps lightly fruity flavor with mild bitterness. I quess its simplicity was a bit of an letdown for me too, but I still enjoyed it quite much.

Drank this out of the bottle some time ago. Taste has some citrus, roasted malts and a mild bitter aftertaste. Not bad but nothing special.

Bottle. Pour is orange with a small beige head. Aroma is malty, cane sugar, and a light floral malt. Flavor is also quite malty with a light spiciness and a nice floral hop component. Not bad.

Excellent all around ale. Moderate hops aroma with hints of malt. Deep amber color, clear, minimal head. Some bitterness, medium body, soft carbonation, clean finish. Not overpowering in any way, just a solid go-to beer.

Pours a light golden amber color with a small white head. Light sweet aroma and tastes alcoholic with a strong hops aftertaste.

From a Bomber. Pours a goldish orange, almost honey color, Ample head that dissapaited. Aroma is citrus and hoppy. Medium texture in the mouth with tangy citrus notes evident. Slightly bitter finish. A nice balance to this ale.

From the bottle. Pours a golden-amber with offwhite head, nice color. Great balance of hops and malts in the nose and flavor. Packs a nice punch but finishes smooth. Not the first time I’ve had this beer and hopefully not the last.
