Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Pours a four-finger creamy head that fades quickly to a ring leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Hoppy nose. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor is sweet/hoppy then a serious hoppy/bitter finish that doesn’t really linger. $1.89 for a 12oz bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me. Dead Guy is an alias for White Crane Bitter Ale it isn’t anything like Dead Guy, different ABV, different look & taste: White Crane pours a four finger cream head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy brown/amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Malty/hoppy nose. Flavor is an almost sweet caramel, the hops are trying to dominate. $2.30 for a 12oz bottle from Glen Beverage Glen, NH.

best brew I’ve tried in some time... Orange-amber pour from a 12 oz bottle. Aroma of mild malts, citrus, and light aromatic hops. Excceptionally well balanced flavor with solid maltiness that is just short of sweet and well balanced hops in the finish. Clean finish with and excellent and complex finish. Great stuff.

Nice amber/orange color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of hops, & caramel; Flavor of sweet malt, hops, caramel, and subtle fruit; Finish is slightly bitter; Quite good overall.

One of the better, most respected breweries in the USA, and this one is their trademark. If a skeleton can drink it, so can you. Enjoy!

Amber color, small off-white head; sweet malty aroma with woody notes and hints of smoke; medium body, smooth carbonation; malty sweet, perhaps lightly fruity flavor with mild bitterness. I quess its simplicity was a bit of an letdown for me too, but I still enjoyed it quite much.

Drank this out of the bottle some time ago. Taste has some citrus, roasted malts and a mild bitter aftertaste. Not bad but nothing special.

Bottle. Pour is orange with a small beige head. Aroma is malty, cane sugar, and a light floral malt. Flavor is also quite malty with a light spiciness and a nice floral hop component. Not bad.

Excellent all around ale. Moderate hops aroma with hints of malt. Deep amber color, clear, minimal head. Some bitterness, medium body, soft carbonation, clean finish. Not overpowering in any way, just a solid go-to beer.
