Commercial Description:
The recipe for this beer goes right back to monastery traditions. The complex triple mash process using four types of malt gives the dark “doppelbock” its characteristic malty dominance and its close to black color. The storage time of 16 weeks produces a pronounced, well-rounded taste. Despite a high original wort content, the sweetness that is frequently present with doppelbocks can scarcely be detected. The first taste is of mild fullness with an accompanying coffee tone, which becomes more dominant with the aftertaste. Between November and January you can allow yourself to be completely won over by the excellent quality of the Winterbock.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of tbone_. Pours a clear, dark, orangey brown with a beige head. Fat, sweetish aroma of roasted malt and overripe fruit. Very full-bodied with sweet notes of caramel and overripe fruit. A slightly oxidized edge without being faulty as such. Solid German bittering hops in the finish. 201107

Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, straw, and malt, as well as hints of alcohol. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel and alcohol, which burns slightly in the throat, leading to a dry bitter and alcoholic finish.

50 cL bottle. Pours see-though brown and reddish, has a lacing brown head. Roasted malt, sweet and with a mild fruity tone. Flavour is sweet with a heavy bredish and roasted tone. Has a very oldish fruity note, but it works out nicely. Finish holds a hardroasted malt flavour.

i got it as "ayinger winter-bock" which seems to be the actual name. dark red-brown colour, solid head. quite dry start. with roasted-malty aromes of toffee but primarly dry. later taste of caramel, ends with spicy aromes of herbs, cinnamon, cardamom, coffee. rich and full arome.

Bottled as "Ayinger Winter Bock". A dark red near to black beer with a nice creamy light brown head. The aroma is malty with notes of caramel. Sweetish taste with malt, caramel, nuts and toffeee. Medium bodied, quite long bittersweet aftertaste. Not as good as the "Celebrator" but this is a very good warming beer.
