Bitter and dry, this leaves the mouth an arid wasteland. One of the best IPA’s I’ve had, but not sure this should be top 50. I’ll try it again sometime.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 20, 2010 Deep gold pour with strange grey-green highlights, and a stark eggshell head which leaves awesome lacing. Nose is biscuit-like malt and floral hops ... registering as hibiscus flowers and herbaceous chamomile. Flavor moves from spicy bergamot tea and cracker-like malts into the aforementioned floral notes; all followed by a hint of fennel in the bitter finish. Mouthfeel is fairly thin but also slightly oily, and super easy to drink. If given the patience, this one reveals itself to be quite unique in regards to other solid (and standard) ipa’s. This is highly nuanced and packed with elegant flavors. I particularly enjoy the floral/herbal approach that is presented. This is a lovely thing, and it makes for an interesting alternative to the more common piney/citrus burst that we have come to ’expect’ from PNW ipa’s. j12601 (1706), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2010 Bottle from the mystery swap. Ended up with two of these, so not sure whose this was. Pours an orange amber with a touch of haze and a medium sized beige head. Really nice candied citrus and sweet sticky pine notes. Caramel malt. Medium bodied, really nice caramel and hop interplay. Finishes with a soft slow grapefruit finish, much subtler than expected given the rest of the beer. Still really tasty though. decaturstevo (2182), decatur, Tennessee, USA

Flavor of sweet malt, stout evergreen flavor with a citrusy finishing bitter. Medium bodied with good carbonation. maniac (2875), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Bottle: The aroma has moderate amounts of caramel, light fruit, grapefruit, and a hint of wood...not enough hops in the aroma. It pours a slightly hazy amber with a with a half inch off-white that leaves behind some nice lacing. The flavor starts with some light mango fruitiness that fades into moderate caramel and toffee. The finish has moderate grapefruit hops and a faint citrus tanginess. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. This comes across more like an APA than an IPA. dkachur (2669), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Pours a hazy amber color with a medium head. Aroma is earthy, resiny and citrus hops with some toffee notes. Very nice. Taste is toffee, caramel, bitter citrus hops. Well balanced. Medium bodied. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2010 Light orange, clear, nice head. Aroma was very hoppy, almost English in nature, had some of the herbal floral notes Fuggles brings around. Flavor is very hoppy, citric and quite perfumy floral. Just enough body to hold up. Not my favorite hop profile, but a well done beer. Butters (1783), Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jan 16, 2010 Bottle from Maniac’s Richmond Tenth Gathering. Semi clear light copper pour with minimal offwhite head. Nose is earthy, green hops, that seem a bit old. Very english in nature, to me at least. Flavor has a lot more citrus, and some resinous bitternous. This one is pretty good for the style, but doesn’t do too much for my personal taste.
