With a name like "Hoptimus Prime" and a monster on the label, I was expecting stronger flavors. The aroma is pleasantly spicy with a hint of pine. The mouthfeel is light with some citrus and pine in the finish. Not bad, but I wish that I had grabbed a double IPA since I spent 6 and change on the bottle.

Poured a deep copper hue with a one and a half finger fluffy white head, that had good retention and lacing. Nose is dominated by piney hops with touches of citrus and honey. Earthy hops dominate the flavor along with floral hops. Slight maltiness comes through before the bitter hop finish. Mouthfeel is sticky, well carbonated, crisp. chriso (5418), London, Greater London, England

Relatively restrained aroma for an Imperial IPA. Much stronger hop attack n the flavour. Mainly grapefruit. Develops a slightly astringent bitterness proceeding into a lemony aftertaste. Not a lot to comment on other than the hops but they seemed to lack a little zing. Maybe this had been sitting on the shelf a while but, without a best before date , it is rather difficult to tell. I’m quite partial to a big hop bomb (at least, from the name, I assume that’s what was intended) but, whilst pleasant enough, this didn’t quite hit the heights.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 17, 2010 Pours hazy amber/gold with little head and lace. Weak aroma of citrussy and herby hops. Medium body with mild carbonation. Light on the taste buds at first, moves into very herby and woodsy hop taste, finishes with peppery alcohol, grassy hop bitterness, and more evident woodiness and caramel from the roast. A good IPA, doesn’t taste like a double. Hope taste is bold, but not as floral or citrussy as I like from a IPA or DIPA, too balanced for a beer that should be hop forward considering the name. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2009 Bomber from a co-worker at our first beer tasting event. Pours a golden amber with tones of burnt orange. A sticky white head sits on top and leaves globby lacing as it recedes. I get an interesting glue aroma right off the bat which fades a bit to floral hops as it warms. The flavors of spice, pine, and citrus stand out the most to me..I taste very little bready malt backbone. The mouthfeel and flavor were a bit thin and empty in my opinion, I expected this one to be bigger...still not a bad beer, I would have it again. Thanks buddy! 5000 (2913), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Bottle:   Dark straw, very hazy, golden hues, moderate off-white head, a few rings of lacing.   Nose has a bit of tea leaves and this watery citrus zest.   Yeap, that pretty much describes the flavor as well.   Not bright, floral, hoppy, or citrusy.   Seems like a somewhat tea like sweetened IPA to me.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.  Tiz okay, but not not to the large aspect I would expect for an IIPA.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 15, 2009 22 oz bottle served in a tulip. Pour was an illuminated crystal clear amber, almost like a shimmering copper, with an inch of frothy white head. Nose is malts, light caramel, bread, yeast, and pears. Taste is a passive sweetness, mild hop bitter, and a nice dash of pepper that lingers into the finish. I purchased this solely for nostalgia’s sake, love the 80’s cartoons, but was pleasantly surprised. It is not the best of the bunch, but the pears and pepper, combined with the bitterness level, make for something quite tasty!
