Deep amber brew, high sediment, exciting. Large foamy beige head very effervescent. caramel aroma, prunes and alcohol apparent. Big body, sweet caramel flavor is foremost present, alcohol burn hits immediately but in a good way, very warming. Watch out for this baby...it is very smooth and very enjoyable. The alcohol will sneak up on you.

Bottle thanks to my Secret Santa! Dark brown body with a cream colored head. Aromas of raisins, plums, yeast and bananas. Flavor of bready and caramel malts with a dry yeasty character. Nice and full-bodied on the palatte. Very good beer but just not something I wanna drink every day.

Bought at the Cracked Kettle. Looking forward to cracking this one for awhile. Dark brown colour with head that just kept on pouring. Taste of plums, really spicy and sweet. Dark fruits. Warm and smooth finish. Improves as warms up.

Bottle. [#500 BIG thanks to Sk8viking for sharing this one] As one of my first real experiences with well brewed beer, St. Bernardus Abt 12 was an eye opener for me. Therefore it was an extra special treat for me to be able to sample this. Expectations were high. Gloomy dark color. Initial sniff showed clear signs of a way more hoppy aroma, compared to the standard Abt 12. Still some of the classic notes are present: heavy malty, molasses, caramel, banana, honey, brown sugar, raisins, and plums. Very full bodied with a hints of an alcoholic texture. Flavor was moderated sweet with some hoppy notes. This is still an excellent beer in my book, but clearly not as good as the original Abt 12.

Sampled at monks cafe with Dennis Bell . Brown Pour with off white head. Bready hoppy aroma with hints of belgian spices and citrus. Fruity flavors with bitter hop finish. A well crafted brew.

Had this in a side by side with a westy 12.Very close in several ways.Sweet malt, yeast and alcohol make up the aroma.Pours a deep copper with a medium off white head.Malt and yeast dominate the flavor.Full mouthfeel with lots of yeast in the finish.
