On tap at Hoa Vien Brauhaus - Hanoi, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, light nuttiness and some dry bitter cocoa. Smooth palate, with a nice balance. This is actually pretty good.

Draft - Dark caramel notes. Deep brown with a decent light brown head. Molasses and malty sweetness with a touch of raisin. Dark bready notes and some reasonable complexity. Solid.

Tap at the brewpub. Poured a hazy reddish brown with a frothy off white head and a little broke lace. The aroma is light toasty caramel malt. The flavour is moderate to light sweet with a smooth malt, light fruit, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Really rather good and better than anticipated.

Dark - cola brown with a dense light beige head. Nobles hops & light chocolate malts in the aroma. Soft carbonation on a med-light body. The taste is tangy chocolate syrup or fudge with a crisp finish. Another nice beer from Hoa Vien, these guys know what they are doing.

had a half litre of this on my last night in Vietnam at their brewpub in Hanoi. Wish I had visited the place earlier as it was definitely the best of any I visited. Anyway, the beer... poured a slightly hazy dark brown with thin head that doesn’t last. nutty malty aroma. taste is very nice. roasted malts, caramel and nuts with a slightly yeasty finish. very nice.
