Dark brown glowin g beer, small head with fine lacing.
Dark fruit, plums and sour cherries. A little smoke, but not much. Sour cherry finish, a bit cough drops, some mint? BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 25, 2006 Acquired from the fall variety 12-pack... Brown translucent body with initially thick offwhite head that becomes about a quarter inch thick. Smells grainy and malty, with hints of yeast and alcohol. Tastes smokey, with some malt and some alcohol. Overall not bad though. Flavorful beer with a lot going on and warming feel. Good stuff. emacgee (1987), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

The taste is very rich with malts and a biscuit like after taste. Very good brew. jonnabrix (136), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 30, 2006 A nice, clear, deep reddish amber color, this has a light aroma, with fruit and hop notes present. The flavor is a pleasant mix of deep fruits, some spicy hops, and a good amount of caramel/yeasty malt. Pretty refreshing and different. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009 9/18/2007: Jinx pours a caramelized brown color with a large, fluffy, beige head that is long-lasting and creates good lacing. The aroma has a good caramelized sugar on top of of sweet apples. The flavor also has a slight applesauce quality to it in the front. It then has a good caramelized maltiness and good smoky flavor. I really like the smoke in the finish. The smokiness of this beer really complements the slightly sweet and caramel and the fruitiness of the malt. There is even a bit of chocolate that comes through here and there. Nice. This medium-bodied beer has a smooth and creamy body. According to the cap, "Beer is good food." This beer is pretty good and delivers a fairly satisfying fill.
3/4 pint bottle from Magic Hat mixed 12-pack purchased and Bigg’s Hypermarket in Harrison, Ohio. Rating #342 for this beer...
9/26/2007: Magic Hat Jinx is clear brown in color with a diminishing off-white head. The aroma has maple syrup, light molasses, roasted malts, and a faint peat-like smoke. The flavor is toasty and nutty with plenty of caramel. There also seems to be some grainy alcohol characteristic. This medium-bodied beer is smooth. This is kind of a weird, difficult to describe beer, but it is also hard to put down!

Pours a very good looking mahogany brown with a smaller sized foamy off white head. Aroma has a strong smoke backbone but has other aromas all over the place, citrus, plastic, bubblegum, chocolate, bread, lots of sweetness. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a smooth creamy finish. Flavor is more solid then the aroma with some nice smokiness, lots of doughy bread, slight nuttiness. Not the best smoked beer I have ever had by any means but a solid effort from Magic Hat. Nihon (245), Vernon, Connecticut, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2007 Aroma of dirt, moss, malt and a little sweet caramel. Color is a relatively deep brown. Flavor is malty, I can slightly detect the smokes peat in the flavor, but maybe it’s just my imagination. Not too bitter, pretty good autumn brew.
