Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
Mikkellers tribute to the foul-mouthed stewardess Jackie Brown from Quentin Tarantino’s movie of the same name. It’s a roasty, chocolaty brown ale with hints of coffee and licorice. Being a Mikkeller brew the malts are inevitably complimented by a great amount of hop bitterness, aroma and flavour.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale, munich, cara-pils, cara-crystal, brown and chocolate), flaked oats, hops (nugget, simcoe and centennial) and ale yeast.

Dark mahogany in color with a moderate, white head. Aroma of cocoa, vanilla and coffee. Starts out with hops and finishes with a bit of chocolate.

14/11/2009. 33cl bottle from Hashigo Zake before heading down to see the All Whites qualify for the 2010 World Cup. Milk chocolate and spice. Malt character a little tired and the beer (I can only guess) has dried out a fair bit more than it would be at its best... leaving the hops a little harsh and grassy. Still very pleasant but it didn’t quite live up to the anticipation - but the football did!

(bottle, 33cl) Darkest brown colour with a light ruby shine and a small beige foamy head. Sweet and deep strongly roasted malt profile in the nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, liquorice, nettles and a tinge of fruity hops in the back. Moderately sweet and roasty bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Quite dry mouthfeel, robust roast-malty taste with notes of milky mocha, chocolate, liquorice and an aromatic presence of subtle fruity hops in the background; pretty dry and roasty bitter and hoppy finish. Very nice, makes me think of a slightly diluted Imp. Stout. 15.XI.09

20th July 2008. Brown beer. Distinct chocloate tone but it jars against the very bitter hop finish. Better when it warms up a bit - doesn’t clash quite as much but these flavours are uncomfortable bed fellows. Conscious of my comparatively low rating have since retried this beer but still fail to see why it averages 3.7.

Poured a coffeeish dark brown. Nose is quite floral and sweet - like some type of candy. In the mouth was more sweetness with some good hops. Almost in IPA territory. Quite a good little beer but quite expensive for what it is.

Brown/red colour with a brown head. Fantastic and quite different aroma of coffea, licorice, smoke, roasted malt & hops. First impression does not get any better. It has a taste of hops which is too strong in my opinion, but actually gives it a hint of IPA to the Brown Ale...An Indian Brown Ale maybe... Has a loooonng aftertaste of coffea. Might be good with a dessert. A very interesting beer, but it smells & looks better than it taste even though the taste is good as well.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours a clear dark brown color with a two-finger tan head and some lacing. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and roast. Comes together well. Flavor is good but a bit harsh from the coffee. Besides coffee, chocolate, nuts roasted malt, licorice, and bittering hops are present. Body is medium with a long bitter finish lasting on the palate. Overall a very good coffee brown ale.
