Smells of cough syrup for some reason (I think its the alcohol). Taste is fruity, orangey. Medium body, pretty fat. Too big onthe booze I think. sfhodense (856), Odense NØ, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2010 Bottle tasting at work. Thanks to Wellstone for getting this out to me!
I’ve had Victory’s abbey tripple before, but it was nice to get another bottle in so I could officially rate it.
A nice aroma filled with plenty of yeast character and a nice malted background. I wish the hops were a bit more prevalent, even for this beer style.
Appearance is a hazy gold, minimal-medium white head... pretty standard.
Wish I could rate the tast a bit higher, but it just doesn’t do it for me like some other tripels do. Lots of yeast character, sweetness that never quite evens out... again, here’s where a small finishing hop addition might have been beneficial.
Palate was enjoyable. Nice creamy, medium bodied mouthfeel that lends well to the experience.
Honestly, I’m nearly the exact opposite to you hop heads out there... the maltier the better. But if even I think it needs a few more (finishing) hops, I can only imagine what you hop heads think.
