hauxe (4000) - Butzbach, GERMANY - DEC 23, 2015
Rated from old notes. Sweet with a cloying caramel aftertaste that lingers on the tip of the tongue. Has presence and body. Bottle claims a smooth, roasted flavor and this is quite accurate.

3.4
tiggmtl (4542) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 19, 2006
Bready, light charcoal dark malts, earthy hops, caramel and chocolate greet the nose. Clear dark brown body is topped by a low tan head that recedes to cover with some lace. Nice balance between malt sweetness and fair bitterness. Earthy hop flavours contribute as do the dark malts. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sampled on draught at the Horseshoe Inn in Uddingston, Scotland (May-06).

Papsoe (25039) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 23, 2005
(Bottle 50 cl) Dark brown with a reddish tint - not much head. Malty, roasted and very smooth with a mild hop character. No great personality, but a pleasant brew. 160201

imdownthepub (26028) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2005
Bottled, 500ml. Dark amber with white though short lasting head. Aged 3 years this was a smooth, toffee, vanilla, buttery beer. Fruity but unpleasantly cloying there is a long sweet finish. More a malty scottish ale than a premium bitter.

2.8
aspidites (1271) - manteca, California, USA - MAR 12, 2005
Bread and anise notes with some malt bitterness and ash. Sweet and sticky no hop to speak of. somewhat hay and dut mouthfeel. Some butter and caramel at the finish.

3.5
highlandlad (1480) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - FEB 27, 2005
Smooth, flavoursome Scottish session ale. Poured a teak colour with a large frothy head that quickly settles. Big aroma, with plenty of appetising roast barley. Licorice, charcoal and malt characters. Medium-bodied and very easy drinking for its 5.5% abv. Flavours are licorice and Victory Vs before a light, bitter finish. Sweet and malty, in the Scottish style. (Bottle)

Burner (78) - Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA - DEC 1, 2004
As brother Chokehold says great dark bitter english ale. I had the mitchells brewed variety in Cape Town. I would drink it again!

Chokehold (20) - cape town, SOUTH AFRICA - NOV 30, 2004
i enojyed this beer, did not finish it however, got very metallic taste near the end. Dark in color, a true ale.

2.7
Boystout (1000) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - AUG 16, 2004
Not much flavour for such a strength. Deep amber colour, medium head, malty sweety nose, neutral sweetish and slightly roasty palate. Expected more.

2.5
jfm (1724) - Holbæk, DENMARK - MAR 1, 2004
Amber color with a white head. The taste is sweet, kind of dry and kind of watery. Finishes with a slight hoppy note.
