| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Pours a cloudy dark copper with decent head and lacing. Aroma starts with a kick of grapefruit, then finishes with notes of cane sugar and alcohol. Flavor is strangely hoppy for a barleywine, bitterness sticks to the tongue. Not bad, just not what I would expect from the style. Still a decent brew. cbkschubert (2085), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 10, 2008 22 oz. bottle I bought in Buffalo this Summer - Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off white head. No visible carbonation bubbles. The head lasts and leaves light lacing on the way down. Aroma is esters, doughy malt, and light florals. Flavor still has some hop bite to it. Also has esters, malt, and a touch of alcohol in the flavor. The alcohol lingers a tad on the palate. Medium to full body. A nice BW. blutt59 (2397), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 29, 2008 My 1850th entry, a seven-buck bomber from Capone’s. Mild gusher despite the long refrigeration and lack of movement. Room-filling, huge pine nose balanced by huge caramel malt. Deeply hazy amber-copper pour with a solid, Duvel-like beige head. Chewy, earthy malt, big sting but on the whole the alcohol is well-embedded. A little fusel-y, though. Full body very warming, a bit muddled in the hop registers (no citrus?), laces well. Bunch of undigested sugar. A decent, not great, BW, probably better for a quick buzz than lengthy enjoyment. slimchill (800), Austin, Texas, USA
