Yellow body with light carbonation. Milky fruity peppery aroma with sugary notes. Dry-sweetish grassy light malty taste, very harmonic, with caramelly straw notes. Dry peppery grassy spicy aftertaste. Clean, highly drinkable, but somewhat bland. A bit disappointing for Paulaner. (0.5l bottle, Systembolaget, Charlottenberg. Rerated at Hell Hunt, Tallinn, with much the same results.) Dogbrick (3094), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Minimal lacing. The aroma is lightly malty with some caramel as well. Medium-bodied, and not overly sweet like some Marzens tend to be, which I appreciated. Good malt flavor that was not too thick or syrupy. As a matter of fact it was very drinkable and complemented my food well. Maybe not the best example of the style, but I'd get it again. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 18, 2004 Yellow colored, white head. Surprisingly light colored for märzen. Sweet and fusel aroma with notes of alcohol, not disturbingly though. Medium bodied. Sweet start in flavor, some grass, fusel and fruit come up too. Notes of hops in the end. Little disappointment for Paulaner, too thin and mild in many cases. presario (3085), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Aroma is hoppy of a german pilsener, but more strong, some caramel malt. Taste is malty, bit crisp. Not bad, but not worth the overall score IMO. ante (3062), Stockholm, Sweden

Very nice malty aroma of butter, herbs, syrup with weak notes of berries. Very, very malty with a smooth mouthfeel. finishes dry and malty with some notes of toffee and minerals. | 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 5, 2007 Clear blonde body with a small white head. Aroma was a little skunky. Minimal malt extraction with basic cereals taste. Distant citrus fruit and almost no hops presence. Not at all what I came to expect from an Oktoberfest (almost felt kolsh-ish). I drank the beer as soon as it arrived in Montreal but I suspect it wasn’t very fresh. Either that or it is part of Germany’s initiative of reducing Oktoberfest’s alcohol consumption. riversideAK (3032), Shoreline, Washington, USA

Pours copper with a beige head that went away through the course of the drink. Flavor was mostly sweet toasty caramel malt and a little brown sugar. with a crisp finish. The sweet malty flavor was a little bland to me though. It was good, but I did not enjoy it as much as some other Fest biers.
