Commercial Description:
Pipeline Porter is smooth and dark with a distinctive roasty aroma and earthy complexity from its diverse blends of premium malted barley. This celebration of malt unites with freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate on Hawaii’s Big Island, lending a unique roasted aroma and flavor. Bottle. Aroma was like fresh brewed coffee, with a smoked aroma detectable. Flavor had a medium sweet coco malt that was smooth on the palate. Mild lingering coffee aftertaste.

A reddish-brown beer with a nice head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of coffee & the taste is nicely coffee with a medium palate that is bordering on being creamy. A good coffee porter.

Dark brown opaque pour with a thin light tan head. Decent coffee aroma with a bit of roast. Bitter coffee and roast flavor. Slightly sour finish. Decent coffee beer.

12oz bottle. Pours dark, but not too thick, with a thin head. Smells like nicely roasty coffee, not too dark. Taste is dominated by coffee, with a nice roasty flavor that’s not bitter, and some undercurrents of lactic acid. Feels a little thin and watery in the mouth, but overall it’s a quite balanced beer, no elements of the flavor overwhelm the others.

Aroma of gritty coffee grounds; bittersweet chocolates. Hazelnut powder right off the spice rack. A little of everything. Superior aroma. Glassy ruby brown appearance. Light passes right on through. Not much head to speak of. The flavor is roasted malt flavors. Coffee comes through boldly. Lots of burnt notes, balanced by the nutty aftertaste. Really a well-balanced brew. Feels ashy and thick; finishes like sandpaper. A really rich, coffee-heavy porter.

A: The pour is a dark brown color with a finger’s worth of mocha colored foam. S: The nose has some wonderful coffee notes to it along with some caramel malt sweetness. There is also some nice roasted malt aroma to it. T: The coffee is not quite as noticeable up front as it is in the nose. The roasted malt and a sweet caramel malt are the primary flavors on the front end with the coffee coming in on the finish with a nice bitterness. M: The body is a touch thin and watery, which is my only knock on this beer. D: This is a surprisingly good coffee porter, especially from Kona. I like the coffee flavor, but there’s a touch of acidity to it which knocks it down just a bit.

12 oz. bottle, brewed at Redhook, Portsmouth NH. Trade with Daknole. Nice porter, almost stoutish style, almost "zesty." Big Kona coffee nose, nice and mellow. Solid black in glass, with thin brown foam. One of the better tasting coffee beers. Smoother and sweeter than others. Still some harshness that you get with either coffee or porter. Despite the influx of caffeine this must be bringing me, it’s a quite relaxing brew.
