Appearance: Cloudy amber with a foamy, tan head. Good head retention and decent lacing.
Aroma: Whoa! Big pine hop aroma. Earthy and herbal, almost like it was dry hopped.
Taste: Earthy, herbal hops are very forward on the palate. What little biscuit notes from the malt that are there get beaten down quickly by the hops.
Palate: Medium-high, prickly carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel. Long, bitter finish.
Overall: A pretty refreshing amber ale. I would recommend giving this one a go! joshwilfong (836), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 12, 2009 dark red with tannish head. hoppy nose. flavor has a lot of bitterness then some upper crystal malts providing a lot of raison-like malt character, not much malt sweetness and the hops just do not come through here. mild citrus hop flavor, but the bitterness predominates the flavor. a lot of residual sweetness, that just accentuates the lack of hop flavor. flawed Beerman6686 (1400), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 12, 2009 This poured a clear orangish color with a white head. Aroma was slight piney hops, some sweetness and slight roastedness and caramel as well. Flavor was very strange, a mix of dark fruits, sweet malt, hops but there seems to be something missing here? | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a foamy off white head that recedes to a light ring. Nose is burnt nuts and fire wood. Palate is medium, a film is felt and finishes dry. Flavors of the burnt firewood and nuts, almost like a graham cracker. Trev (953), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA

Flavour is actually quite nice.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 9, 2009 On tap at Coasters. First of all, given my previous experiences with Magic Hat as a mediocre (at best) brewery I would not have tried this had it not been poured for me before I could order. Second, for an amber ale Magic Hat does a really nice job with this one and I was pleasantly surprised. Pours brownish-orange with a thin, off-white head. Big, bright citrus hop aroma. Bitter hop flavor of fresh cut grass and pine balanced with some caramel malt sweetness. This is actually a pretty good beer. joet (1725), Fulton, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Beer pours nice copper color with a thick, retained off white colored head. Aroma is hoppy, with some light spiciness. Flavor is mildly citrically bitter with just a touch of bready, malt balance. This is a hop forward amber ale, and therefore one I enjoyed quite a bit.
