| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 3, 2010 From bottle@RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. A low, ruddy cream head resting on a pitch black, softly carbonated body. Complex and rounded aroma. Gently sweet dark malts, mocha/creamed coffee, rounded rostedness, alcohol, and notes of tar and licorice. Taste is much of the same as the aroma, full malty, but with less complexity. Thick and supersmooth in the mouth, though, and with a plaseant alcohol warmth. Both soft and powerfull, balanced and tasty. Yum yum. dimenhetfield (220), , Florida, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jan 1, 2010 This one is worth all the critical acclaim. The aroma is full of roasted barley and oatmeal. The color is jet black, and the pour is almost like syrup. The is very balanced, perfect flavor, smooth, and not overpowering. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma mostly of roast malts with a little alcohol. Flavor is very malty with a subtle sweetness. Alcohol is detectable but not overpowering. Coffee, toffee, oatmeal, and a slight chocolate are noticeable. The slight sweetness blends very well and does not clash with the beer as a whole. This is a very smooth Imperial Stout and is one of the best beers I’ve had.
