garthicus (3025) - Dublin, IRELAND - OCT 25, 2012
On cask at the brew pub. Appearance: very dark brown, almost black, thick latte coloured head. Aroma: Mild, a little chocolate and malt, somewhat roasty with some grass notes. Flavour: Mild mouthfeel with a hint of chocolate & malt, toasty, simple, quick milk chocolate finish. Pleasant.

A dark brown to black in colour with mild coffee aroma. A slight chocolate taste and bitterness to finish. --- BeerItsNice

Come sempre la porter si dimostra la birra migliore per i birrifici irlandesi...pttimo tostato, con finale cioccolatoso...

Beermack (725) - London, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2012
2012 version on tap at Messrs (4.8% ABV). Pours deep, dark, murky ruby with thin off-white head - great lacing. Aroma is fairly subtle roasted, smokey malt, chocolate, and slight coffee. Taste is much the same with pronounced chocolate, smoked, and coffee flavours all combining well. A little bit watery - not quite as full a mouthfeel as I would like, but still a very decent and satisfying porter.

Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and some nuts. Medium-bodied; Creamy and roasty flavour with a nice bitterness at end. Aftertaste clean and sharp, but relatively nice. Overall, a nice break from Guinness, but the reminders of THE irish beer are still everywhere in this one! Definitely nice to try in Ireland. I sampled this pint on draught at the MessRS Maguire Brewpub in Central Dublin on 19-February-2009.

Ungstrup (51285) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAY 15, 2008
Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A black beer with a brown shine under a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and hints of smoke from black malt, leading to a dry roasted finish.

User37895 (3085) - - OCT 19, 2007
Draft at Bull and Cork, Dublin. The pour was dark brown in color, ok initial head and below par lacing. The aroma was milk chocolate and light roast. The flavor was milk chocolate first and foremost, light roast second, and a variety of lesser harder to detect hints of licorice and maybe some dark fruits. The mouthfeel was low on carbonation, somewhat sticky. Overall a sweeter take on the porter style, also not complex, but enjoyable (not sessionable: too sweet).

onlyrocknroll (379) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - OCT 18, 2007
Black, though with very little head. The aroma is quite mild. Dry, decent roasted flavours, coffee more so than chocolate, pronounced bitterness, but not to the point of being harsh. Medium bodied. One of the better Irish brews IMO.

Draught@SBWF 2007
Dark ruby, almost opaque color, nice expresso head, some lace. Some roasted and papery notes in the nose. Coffeish, coffee beans all over. Clean, a bit lagerish product. Nicely drinkable.
