Commercial Description:
Extra, extra? You better believe it. We like to say it’s double extra special. The balance of malt and hops makes it truly one-of-a-kind. Warming malt notes at the onset with a hop kick in the back and opens up to a nice dry finish. Our small batch ESB is a big, strong traditional ale with characteristics that break tradition and a complexity that constantly surprises.

Bottle. Dark amber color with big off white head. Dirty earth aroma with floral notes. The taste was the same with bitterness and earthiness in the finish.

Pours a clear very garnet hue. Nose is like alcohol notes and yeast. Flavor is bitter, but the alcohol takes over and wrestles control. Feel is sticky on the liquid and the carbonation is low. This is a mediocre ESB, IMO. Too hot from the alcohol and definitely not balanced. Nice to try. Moving on.

Pour is red brown with a creamy average sized head. Aroma is more on the malty than hoppy side with some cherry, spice, caramel, with vegetal and grainy hops. Alcohol is noticed, which is not a good thing in this case. A touch cloying. Kind of unique and drinkable but not really all that great. The aroma was promising, but the flavor is kind of a mess.

12oz bottle. Pours hazy dark reddish brown with off-white head. Aroma is hops, caramel malt, some nuttyness and citrus. Flavor is hops, toffee, caramel, citrus, and some peat. Pretty hoppy for a ESB and has some nice spicyness to eat. Pretty solid brew.

Kinda sweet which is not so good in an esb. Nutty notes as well a caramel and sugar ending on a blink and you miss it bitter note.

A little cloudy, thick, subtle fruit and hops, big kick in the aftertaste. Different than ESBs I’ve had.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice thin almost white head, good dark brown color, some lacing...nose of hop, malt, some mild sweetness...taste malt with sweet, then hops, with a nice bitter finish. Good mouth feel. The 471 series is good so far. Up date. 22 0z. bottle. Pours a thin off white head, with extensive lacing, over a clear coppery amber (SRM10) body......nose is rich in toffee, coriander, cereal, mild hop spice.....taste is thick with mild malt sweetness (toffee, caramel), medium hop fiinishing bitterness.....mouth feel is thick and chewy, carbonation makes for a creamy experience. Although somewhat high in alcohol, this meets the style quite well, and is quite delicious.

Dark red, almost brown. Smell was malty and just ok. The taste was more malt, some caramel, no hops that I could find but the alcohol was certainly there. Mouthfeel was a little thick. This beer was alright but I think if it had a lower ABV it would be much better because I could drink more than one and the mouthfeel would be thinner.
