Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Average IPA I thought. Hops and citrus. Nothing to extreme. Nothing really unique.

Tasted as part of the Avery Experience at Brouwer’s. Pours the color of apple cider, with a small head. Citrus hops in the aroma, with an interesting note on the finish - almost like pear. Hugely bitter, with a great, full flavor for a single IPA. I’d pick up a sixer of this stuff any day.

Saffron colored with some chill haze. Nice 2+ fingers of eggshell head. Lacing is immense, great retention. Smell is a bit understated, with honey soaked piney hops. Taste is also somewhat light. Malt sweetness along with some tannin-like bitterness imitates the character of honey tea. Some citrus hops are also present. Tannic finish leads to a dryish mouthfeel. Carbonation is on the low side, which doesn’t match well with the sort of chewy body. This is a quite tame IPA, which makes it very very drinkable.

Avery IPA Cask - The bartender at the Flying Saucer pumped this "unfiltered" beer out of some sort of a cask. I don’t understand it but he said it refined the taste. It was very smooth and had a very pleasant fresh grapefruit hop aroma.

Hoppy, quite bitter and also flowery. long aftertaste. Nicely cloudy and balanced fizzyness. Recommended!
