Commercial Description:
Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

Bottle, $3.00 in CT. Pours clear orange-yellow with a clean head. Aroma of orange citrus and pine, primarily, with a backdrop of caramel. Mouthfeel is sticky with a long finish. This is definitely a DIPA with serious malt character. Flavor is robust, and levels on a sweet-yet-hoppy note that blasts you with ripe fruit, sugar, pine, and a touch of toastiness. There is a LOT of flavor here. Goes down with discernable alcohol heat. However, in this age of Big Beers, I felt that Mojo Risin has little new to offer both in terms of a DIPA and also in comparison to Boulder’s Mojo IPA. It also flirts dangerously close with an American Strong, which to a Hophead is disappointing.

Medium sized offwhite head, good retention and lacing. Lightly hazy copper/orange color. Nose of Citrus, light pine and some earthyness. Med/full bodied, lightly chewy and resiny. Good hop flavors, citrus, light melony notes with lightly sweet caramel maltiness. Fruity, hoppy finish, lasting, mild bitterness. A little alcohol as it warms up. Draft @statelineliquors. Thanks Robert!

On tap at Mad Mex. Looks like a typical IPA with a slightly golden amber color and a sticky off-white head that laces well. Aroma is sweet and full of resin with a touch of floral. Taste was more of the same with understated malts that don’t do much towards mellowing it. Medium bodied and slightly sticky mouthfeel. I would have liked a little more balance.

Big sweet piney nose. Orangey gold color, light haze, huge thick long-lasting frothy head. Candy caramel sweetness, solid complex bitterness that balances it nicely. Big effervescence, full body, heavy mouth feel, bitter-hoppy aroma-warming alcohol finish. All around pretty solid, but is just a little hot, overall not terribly complex.

Golden hue with a nice white head. Aroma of grapefruit hops. The smell is so nice I had to inhale it several times before tasting. Wow-the taste is intense. Grapefruity, sweet, great balance between the malt and hops.. IMHO- comparable to the best of DIPA’s. Leaves a nice sticky sweet aftrtaste. Great lacing. I might leave one for my brother to sample-maybe?

12 oz bottle from Tournament Liquor. Golden pour with big head that sticks around for awhile and leaves beautiful lacing. Aroma is a sharp bitter hoppy with some piney notes. Flavor is absolutely magical. Sweet, chewy, hoppy and fruity, but in a way that I haven’t had in an IIPA before. Finish is actually very smooth with a touch of bitterness left over. This is a fantastic and actually pretty unique IIPA.

Draft in a Growler from Greens beverage. Pours a pretty orange/amber/gold flavor with a thin, tan head and a little lacing. Nice, grassy, woody hop aroma with a twinge of citrus. Sweet, grassy, with some citrus, maybe apricot notes and a fairly strong alcohol finish. This is a flavorful beer, but nonetheless somewhat disappointing as a double IPA.
