Commercial Description:
Everything great that was ever built required a long hammer. A trusty tool used by ordinary ordinary men to make extraordinary things. Transcontinental train tracks. Impossible pipelines. Soaring skyscraper. Long Hammer IPA puts this bold spirit in a bottle. And like its namesake, it's a beer built to stand the test of time.

Hoppy nose is restrained yet somewhat complex and unusual. Starts melony with cantaloupe and casaba, perhaps a touch of peaches and solvent. A green apple? Maybe a rye bread type malt is present, but I wouldn’t expect it from the golden color, with a thin layer of clean white foam. Flavor starts hoppy (vaguely resiny, somewhat floral like noble hops), but feels empty, again a lack of malt. Finish is mildly bitter, and pretty vacant.

Draught. Pours light copper, with a small white head. Aroma is slight hops, citrus and pine. Flavor is hoppy, and has at least a little bit of malt to back it up. A little watery in the finish. Not too bad, I can’t believe Red Hook would even consider brewing a beer over 6% ABV.

Clean and crisp ipa with a simple finish and good hop content. Nothing special but not a bust, easily drinkable.

Bottled. Thanks larsniclas. Clear golden colour. Vanilla, tropical fruits and rubber balloon in aroma. Flavourwise, it’s a bit subtle with a doughy maltiness as well as vanilla. Pretty good bitterness, that comes early and leaves late, just like an annoying guest. The maltiness is a bit disappointing.

gold color with a quickly disappearing white head. Smell is of hops and taste is appropriately bitter. Not much of a fruit presence. Overall not bad

Bottle: Pale golden, somewhat dirty, slight haze, minor bits floating about, large rocky white head, fairly nice lacing.   Decent looking at least.   Dirty earthen hop nose, astringent citrus peel, slight pine.   Definite citrus peel on the tongue, a little bright and rough around the edges.   Mild bitterness, citrus peel based.   Quick finish, very slight metallic aftertaste.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, at best.   Lingering grainy malt character after the astringent citrus bitterness dies down.   Pretty much what I expected from Redhook, a subpar example of the style.   Not disgusting mind you, just not interesting enough to ever have again.

(bottle - 12 oz) Hazy light orange color with a very thin and soapy white head. Aroma is hoppy and floral with some notes of grapefruit and malt. Flavor tastes like a pretty standard IPA; bitter and floral hops at the beginning with a lightly sweet and citrusy middle with a very slight bitter finish. Aftertaste is almost nonexistent.
