Tasted at the Cincinnati Ratebeer Gathering. Deep dark chocolates, coffee characteristics as well, heavy malts, but somehow feels surprisingly light on the palate. Strange, but good. Thanks Tmoney99!

Vintage 2006. A black, opaque brew with a dark brown, tight bubbled, long lasting head. The first reaction was sweet with an acetic touch on the tip of the tongue. This was followed by an acid-like aftertaste. Not as full-bodied as I would expect from a BIG Stout. The listed 7% ABV didn’t taste or feel that high. The acid taste dominated. There was no sense of roasted malt or hop flavors.

2006 Bottle. Aroma of sour cream, chocolate, and hops. Color is dark brown with a minimial head of short duration. Flavor has sour chocolate center with bitter lasting taste. Seems to have lost some umph. Carbonation is a bit lacking. Somewhat flat on the palate. Overall experience is somewhat like drinking chocolate milk. Enjoyable as a dessert beer.

Great rich black pour with a robust brown long lasting head. The nose is roasted grain. chocolate and vanilla. Theinitial flavor is rich cocoa, touches of espresso grounds, deeply roasted grain, and a dry acidic tingle on the palate as it finishes. Very rich and creamy texture is saved from being cloying by a fairly lively carbonation. Very well made brew.

Bottle @ Chris_o shindig 2007. Black color with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate chocolate, cacao, licorice, sugar. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily / syrupy, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic.

Bottled. Very dark brown colour with small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some leather and slight hints of alcohol. Flavour is roasted malts, some raisins and warming alcohol. Slight chocolateish notes coming in mildly in the background too.

22oz. bottle. Aroma is milky, creamy and does indeed feature some light cocoa, hints of lactose can also be detected along with a roasty, charry sweetness and mild raisin tones. Dark brown-black color, poured with an enormous light brown head that took some time to subside, and is bottle conditioned. Flavor is a bittersweet, creamy blend of dark, roasty, gently coffeeish malts, burnt sugar and milky chocolate, finishing with a mild addition of slightly tannic bitterness and hop spice, providing a drying effect. Thick and smooth on the palate with a medium-full body. Nicely flavorful and well-balanced.

8/03/2007: Arcadia Cocoa Loco is nearly black with a dark tan frothy head. The aroma is bitter dark chocolate and the flavor is yeasty blend of chocolate and fruit with some roasty malt that ends a bit of a coffee-like flavor. Overall this is pretty tasty, but like many other Arcadia beers, it could have been better...

22 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99 at the Cincinnati RateBeer Gathering. Thanks again Tom! Rating #77 for this beer...
