Malty, fruity, roasted aroma. Very dark red-brown color. Yep, it's an Imperial, all right. The aroma is mouth-watering, but it's not quite as there as I want it to be. The flavor, on the hand, totally nails it. Bam! Oh, my Lord. The balance between the exquisite yet intense malt flavors and the hoppiness is unreal. Sweetness is almost immediately tempered by the roasty yet fruity character and the subtle but insistent hoppiness. The finish shows the most hop, with the aftertaste leaving a roasty, malty deliciousness on the palate. Not as intense as some other American micro Imperials, but that's okay, there's something to be said about the blending of elements here. It's fantastic. One of my all-time favorite beers. Just this whole concept, the name, the beer, the label... I hope I get some more of this before it gets colder out. Cheers, John!!

On tap at Flying Saucer in San Antonio. A sweet, molasses aroma. It just smells thick! Jet black appearance with an ecru colored creamy head and super sticky lacing on the glass. Flavor is heavily coffee with a touch of molasses. It starts sweet and finishes slightly bitter. Smooth, velvety texture with minimal carbonation. An absolute winner and one of my favorites!

Poured from bottle. DAMN. Magnificent nose; espresso, toast, meaty. Color is a dark, opaque brown that gleams slightly red in a bright light. Tastes of dark roast espresso, baker’s chocolate, black tea, and a slight herbal note -- rosemary? This is a beautiful beer.

I just fell in love with this beautiful beer. The aroma is complex with dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, and toasted malt. As soon as you taste it you get heavy malt/bakers chocolate and after swallowed you find black licorice and coffee. This is not a beer for everyone but if you enjoy stouts this is tits! Really fun to drink and at 9 percent alcohol it’s suprisingly smooth. Will take some home with me back to germany.

Very robust, dark but not bitter, a little bit of spicyness and sweetness, but on the whole dark earthy chocolates predominate.

This brew is no joke. Super malty, silky mouthfeel, rich rich rich! A great choice, even if you can only put down one at a time.

On tap at the Saucer in San Antonio. Pours an opaque body with ruby highlights. An extremely sticky, tan head clings to the glass. Nose is fresh coffee, bitter chocolate and lightly sweet. Flavors of espresso, bitter chocolate, stone fruits and a hint of alcohol. Fine carbonation and a medium to full mouthfeel/body. Slightly oily on the palate. Great coffee bitter finish that’s smooth and long. I "HEART" Rasputin ends the review.
