Appears a hazy light gold with a small white head and tiny spots of lacing that glide down the glass.
Smell is of sour cherries, slight funk, yeasty cake, and acidic sourness. Brett abound, baby!
Taste is sour with acid burn. Sour cherries, apples, pomegranites, and a musty funkiness that is like a barnyard batch of vinegar.
Mouthfeel is sour and acidic with some fruit notes coming through. wyzzywyz22 (932), Wirral, Merseyside, England
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Bottle, Barleycorns, Nantwich. Slightly hazy pissy yellow gold colour. Lively white head. Aroma of barnyard, fermenting grape, dying flowers, leather, soggy wood. Something different emerges on each sniff.
Flavour is a wonderful balance of fruit (esp green apple), sourness, wood. Not overpowering and quite soft considering all the elements packed in here. Dry finish. Oozes quality and craftsmanship. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 4, 2002 Holy crap, this blows my mind. From the rusty cap onward this has a most amazing outlandish smell--salty, sour, yeasty, and a disturbing touch of diarrhea. Pours a lovely golden color with a huge but quickly diminishing head.
I really can’t wrap my mind around the complicated flavor of this thing. It is so sour that it makes my eyes water and nearly makes me wretch. But there’s something there that I want to get to the bottom of--a maltiness hiding in there, and a spicy flavor reminiscent of pot. A totally new experience for me. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA

Nose of dry cheese, dirt, age and oak barrel. Sour flavors of white grape, vinegar and a touch of green apple. Finish is tart, clean and long. Taverner (927), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2008 Very smooth gueuze. Aroma and nose are all funky horseblanket with a copperish smell in the background. Pours golden with white head. Very dry and sour. I could drink a lot of this if it weren’t $14 a pop. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2008 Poured from a 750ml bottle (2006 vintage) and served in a flute. This lambic poured a hazy golden color with a quickly fading head of fizzy white bubbles. No lace. The aroma of the beer was made up of crab apples, white grapes, honey, oak, light citrus, and also some funky yeast. The flavor consisted of a mouth puckering sourness, followed up by apple, pear, white wine, earthy yeast, and some mild citrus notes. The mouthfeel was light, crisp, and dry with mild carbonation. Complex and enjoyable. I can’t wait to get some more! MrWalker (927), Stockholm, Sweden
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Keg @ Akkurat, Stockholm Labeled 100% Gueuze. Hazy orange colour. Hay, citrus, virginia tobacco, and a pleasant soil touch. Down to earth, so to speak. And as always, refreshing. Top product. Syd (920), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 22, 2004 2002 vintage: 1 pint 9.4 oz bottle pours an orange gold color with a minimal head and some lace sheets that slide down in little time. The aroma is barnyard, asphalt, wood, biological, and tart. The flavor is more sour than a lime, salty, a definite funk, hops detected, and very acidic (but not in a stomach acid sort of way). The palate is impressively rich for how dry this stuff is. Overall, I'm pleased I drank the big old bottle (see Mom, I finished my Gueuze) - in an anthropological sort of way. I will admit I am more of a Belgian Strong Ale whimp. I will leave this style for those that really like it.
