Commercial Description:
Big and delicious for your ’perty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

dark caramel brown color little head tons of floaty stuff. Bourbon woody aroma. Nice malty bourbon woody flavor with some alcohol which isn’t to bad. This was a 1 year old bottle mellowed a bit.

Bottle: Poured a murky purplish brown with no head, aroma of bourbon, vanilla, oak, sweet dark fruits, and caramel. Flavor is moderately sweet, some plum, oak, vanilla. Alcohol finish. Interesting beer.

Bottle purchased at Corral Liquors in Granite City. Pours dark brown with an aroma of toffee and bourbon. Smooth and creamy with a mild sweet bourbon taste. Yummy!

What a nice treat. Fantastic aroma of bourbon. Reminded me of a scotch ale aged in bourbon barrels. I got a four pack and savored every bottle. I poured it in a small wine glass and enjoyed first the rich aroma and then the deep flavors that this brew had to offer. Oak, bourbon and complex and interesting malt flavors. I want more!

Pretty good beer. Dark brown pour. Malt, bourbon, black licorice, smokey, nuts, coffee, dark dried fruits. Pretty well balanced, but i think it was a bit too creamy/thick in the mouth as the sweetness was a touch too strong for my liking. Still an excellent example of this style.

Thanks to pantanap. Dark brown with a small white head. Nose is whiskey, malts, sweetness, and light hops. Taste of whiskey, some malts, sweetness, and upfront alcohol. Body is a bit thin.Taste lingers. Sort of one dimensional but tasty.

12oz bottled on Nov 16, 2009. Served in a Duvel tulip at cool room temperature. Pours copper brown with a two finger beige head that reduces to a foamy ring and light cap, leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is wow, big time vanilla and oak, bourbon/whiskey, alcohol, a bit of caramel and chocolate, wood is the centerpiece of the aroma, smells of a woodworking shop. Flavor is rich caramel, chocolate, cherries, vanilla, oak, bourbon, mild alcohol but pretty smooth considering the bottle’s young age. Some sweetness overall. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth, very full, low carbonation. Damn, this is a treat. I’m already a huge fan of Dirty Bastard and the bourbon barrel aging is blended so well in this one, particularly balanced in the flavor. More, please!

Pours deep mahogony. Nice head fades to good lacing. Nose is slightly fruity, with a nice quantity of oak, and a bit of malt. Thicker mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, slightly oily, has a hit of alcohol but not as much as you’d expect with the ABV. Slight sweetness, moderately bitter, balanced flavor with that nice rich oaky backend. The oakiness isn’t overstated, though, it’s present without being dominant or distracting. Well-played, Founders.

Pours a deep brown with small head. Aroma was dominated by bourban, burnt oak, toffee with a hint of vanilla. The bourban smell dominates, comes through potently in the taste. Taste is slightly sweet with a dry finish. This is certainly a beer that grows on you. Very nice.
