Reddish brown with a tan, ring head. Light hoppy aroma. The flavors display a funky tang to it, almost like something is off. It has a weird finish and is overall weird. There are many other American Strong Ales that I would prefer.

Tap @ 7th Annual Bistro Double IPA Fest (rating from notes). A dark amber color with a tan head. A light start but a biting hop punch. Malty, chocolate and some fruits.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of hops, pine, resin, dark malt, toasting, and light caramel. Poured deep amber/copper in color with a small to medium-sized, creamy, beige head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Good to very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of hops, pine, toasting, malt, slight brown sugar, slight resin, citrus, and light caramel. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt, toasting, hops, and pine finish is light to medium sweet and medium bitter.

Bottle: Pours a beautiful reddish-amber with a small, creamy beige head. Nice bits of lacing. Smells hoppy and sweet that relates mostly to citrus and caramel. Light hints of resin. Taste is full and flavorful with citrus hops, fruity sweetness, raisons, toffee, and the sweetness of candied sugar. Gets a little ’hot’ in the tail, with hints of the abv poking through. Still, a fun and tasty winter warmer.

Thanks to someone in the IBU. Lots of malty sweet character mixed with a very sticky resiny hop character. I little bit of chocolate in the malt, but not as much as some other imperial reds. Good beer.

Awesome IRA! Nose full of spicy hops. Notes of grass and pine in the body. Finishes dry - very dry. Beautiful ruby red color to this one - it really is a beautiful beer. Fluffy tan head that goes away quickly and doesn’t leave much lacing.

Bottle:   Brownish in color, burnt caramel hues, moderate frothy beige head, sticky lacing.   Heavy malt & tree sap like nose.   Quite malty on the tongue. A little dusty, ashy.   Otherwise I am picking up tea leaves and soft citrus rind.   I figured for a Double Red it would be quite malty, but its not as heavy as I would have thought.   Has a slight earthy aspect to it as well.   Moderate body and mouthfeel, not as big as expected even tho it is on the malty side.   Finish is dusty, slight citrus peel, with a little bit of pixie stix.   When I think Double Red, I think of a heavy Amber.   This was moreso a standard Amber/Red than one that is "Double".   Enjoyable, even if not malty enough.
