Faint smell of cooking wine. Flavor is caramel, burnt sugars and caramelized malts. Body is fairly light but stronger carbonation. Alcohol is noticeable. A very smooth barley wine.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 15, 2010 2010 vintage. Enjoyed via draft in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours a surprisingly light-hued color, with a fairly small and short-lived white head. The aroma brings a fairly aggressive west coast hop aroma to the nose, resembling but not quite a stand-in for a double IPA. The palate is bitter up front, showing a level of IBUs that seem to be closer to 100 than to 50. However, this character is drowned out by the large malt character that comes in about mid-palate. Hop resins and lingering malt flavors carry through to the finish, which is clean. Overall, a nice version of the style. VTHopHead (989), Barre, Vermont, USA

Aroma is hoppy with plenty of malts and dark fruit. Flavor is quite hoppy with a decent malt understructure. Needs a bit more balance. Finish is lingering, hoppy and medium bitter. An excellent BW... | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 4, 2010 Bomber from quierocerveza. Hazy dark amber pour with a small diminishing head. Lots of sweet malt, fruit, and hops in the nose. Mostly a caramel malt flavor with a nice kick of hops at the finish. Thanks KS!!! Awesome!! zdk (500), New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2010 Tap at Rattle and Hum. Toffee, caramel and astringent. Some nice malt flavors going on, but not very well balanced. Not like your usual barleywine, I’m thinking. basspro76 (270), New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 27, 2010 Drank from a pint glass poured from a 22 oz bottle. Tastes of sweet fruit, alcohol and even a little bit of carmel and some hops at the end. Great beer. TBone (6999), Pori, Finland

Hazy deep ruby color, small white head. Intensive American hoppy malty and a bit sweet nose. Liquerish, slightly sweet but same time salty, licoricey palate. Some hops but much easier to drink than more hoppy American barley wines like Bigfoot. Bready aftertaste. Feels less alcoholic than 10%. Drinkability is very good in this brew. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 18, 2010 A fairly good BW. Had on draft at South Park Tavern in Dayton, OH. Not one of the best BW’s that I have had, but a delicious selection nonetheless. The pour was clear, dark amber and the aroma was light fruit. Flavors of fruit, spice and malt rule in this brew. Good body, some complexity of flavors with some good malt presence. Just lacks the overall flavors of some barleywines like Hog Heaven et. al. williamherbert (610), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2010 Aroma is gritty barley and raisins. Dark grape. Typical of style, but nice nonetheless.
Appears hazy purple-brown. No head or carbonation to speak of. Nice cloudy color. No lace, but that wasn’t expected anyway.
Flavor is heavy grape and barley. Some oaky, woody accents in the aftertaste. Much bitter mash-barley at the swallow. Red wine finish. Just a hint of grapefruit.
Thick and oily. Very very smooth and buttery. A very solid barleywine. Pretty standard but very pleasant.
