Commercial Description:
It was created in 1933 by Alfred Dubuisson, grand-father of the present family brewer, Hugues. Its former name was "Bush Beer 24°" (the density in Ballings), but today it is known as Bush Amber. Its amber colour is due to the use of caramel malt in the production process. Its bitter sweet taste provides it with firmness and personality. What's more, it helps digestion.

Dark orange colour with big head. Aromas of malt and caramel. Alcohol noticable but not overpowering in nose and taste. Nice nalt flavour with a nice spicey heat.

Amber with a low head. Aroma of raisins, dades and overripe fruits. The flavour is very sweet and toffee-like with a dry end.

From the 250 ml. bottle but even though there are "best by" dates and numbers on the label, nothing was clipped. The pour is a cloudy darker amber with a nice silky off-white head about a finger deep. It fades away little by little but still lasts a long time. The aroma is of sweet caramel and butter rum. The mouthfeel is fairly bold. The taste stings the senses but in a good way. It comes on strong like a strong ale should with a kind of sweetness but also a bitter dose of the reality of a 12%ABV.

8.4 oz bottle. Light golden amber pour with a thin off white head. Aroma of sweet malt and faint sweet rock candy. Taste is full bodied with a hefty dose of alcohol among sugar, sweet malt and faint yeast. Strong alcohol finish. A decent after dinner brew that would go well with a fine cigar.

250mL bottle. Pours a murky medium brown with a dense head that settles slowly to a ring. Aroma of dried fruit, resinous hops, honey and alcohol. Flavour is sweet with a strong fruity acidity, low bitterness and the alcohol is present but not overpowering. Full bodied, soft carbonation with a sweet and sour finish.

Light in color and texture, with lots of alcohol on the nose. Some vanilla and some dry hop flavors. Lots of alcohol heats up the finish, too much for me.

Poured into a tulip glass because that’s what I felt like at the time. Okay head, okay amber colour, lots of carbonation evident, a pretty good look. Has a slight hoppy aroma with plenty of caramel and malts in the mix, slight syrupiness. Taste is a heavy syrup with caramel, roasted malts, lots of sweet sugar, slight cedar hints. But surprisingly no alcohol on the palette, and in a strong beer that’s pretty good.

5/7/09 notes: called "Scaldis Belgian Ale", not sure if this is the brew. Sampled on tap, Eli Cannon’s. This is immediately reminiscent of K-O Blonde Beer: sweet, fruity aroma, residual sugar, banana. Mouthfeel is pleasantly full and rich. Luckily, I felt that the sweetness of this beer was somehow held in check by fruit and spice (perhaps even vanilla?), preventing this offering from becoming overly sweet. This drank easily and enjoyably, no trace of ABV.
