Theydon_Bois (40465) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JAN 7, 2018Bottle split at Leighton's 20K, from an IP trade with Joe Muck of Bald Wizardry fame, 01/03/17
Hazed orange golden with a decent off white cap.
Nose is piss stained wood, bitter orange, straw, funk, yeast, grains.
Taste comprises harsh fruit peel, bitter, over ripe fruits, barnyard edge, grains, pissy lemon rinds, wooded.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with an astringently bitter climax.
A little on the harsh side and lacking complexity.
IslandHaole (1302) - Misawa, JAPAN - APR 2, 2017A slightly hat honey colored beer, head very foamy out of the bottle but quickly settles. Has a slight "Barnyard" funkiness (wet hay, woodpile, critters) wild flowers, caramel, tangy. Sweet with various wood flavors (Oak & Cedar) and hints of peppercorn. Alcohol well masked, just noticeable in the warm finish. Slick feel, thin to medium body. Interesting but not one I’d drink often.
