Commercial Description:
Hurricane Amber Ale is a full flavored beer which clearly has more taste than other domestic and imported light beers while at the same time does not overpower the drinker with heavy body or excessive bitterness.

Pours a cloudy amber with a smallish, short lived head. Smell is sticky, malt with a bit of a guaze-like odor to it. Taste is mainly malty again with the band-aidy like sweet flavor. Medium bodied and drinkable, but hindered from the possibly unintended malty flavor.

On tap at Duffy’s - Wickford, RI. Colored dark pumpkin and pale caramel, a nip hazy with no head. Cold aroma, so a few sparse grains and a touch of yeast. Flavor carries house signature, but it’s not overwhelming. Generic plain maltiness, a faint glow of hops, a blast of minerals and then a slightly murky finish. The grain quality does suffer a bit, but it doesn’t render the beer undrinkable. A very mild, generic amber.

A nice orange-amber body with a white head which did have some retention. Aroma was a nice bread note with a sweet caramel presence. Flavor was slightly hoppy with mostly citrus notes but did have a bitter twang. Finish was smooth and light. Nothing seemed dominate or special about this brew. Good for a session ale though.

Pours a hazy orange copper color with a light tan head. Aroma is toast, biscuit, crystal malts, caramel, grain, and grassy earthy sweet hops. Flavor is grain, toast, crystal malt, and sweet grassy almost minty hop finish.

Bottle. Pours a lightly hazed browned amber with a thin to medium white head. Clean citrus hops, nice caramel malt note. Medium bodied, earthy malt, a bit thin with some metallic notes. Grapefruit bitterness on the finish.

(Bottled) Poured amber and hazy with small white head. Malts and hops were in the aroma. Medium bodied palate with medium carbonation. Clear hop flavour. Also tasted of malts, sweetness, bitterness and lightly sea water. Malty and hoppy aftertaste.

Golden amber color. Aroma is pretty weak. It consists of malts, orange, toffee, and a little roasty. Taste is of sweeter malts, caramel, apricots, with hops in the back end. Leaves a little bit of a bite in the end. This seems to be one of the better brews from Newport Storm.

From a bottle into a pint glass. Pours with an inch of fairly thick head which sticks around. Lacing is present although not heavy. Very nice dark golden hue which is accented by the thick head. Taste is slightly hoppy with a slight bit of pine. It grew on me a little more as I drank it but it’s really nothing to write home about. I’d pass on this one unless it was the cheapest micro at the bar.
