COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

ozzatoadisback (643) - ITALY - JUL 8, 2022
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2022 Pours very pale yellow with lost of bubbling, almost perfectly transparent. Average size, large bubbled white head, decent retention and a bit of lacing. Quite subdued, simple aroma: slightest cereal malts base, slightest dough-like feel, a hint of tartness with dominant lemonish freshness and a bit of yogurt-like feel. Taste is both a little brighter and a bit more complex. Malty base as per aroma, half citric half lactic tartness (definitely moderate, especially for the style), with notes of lemon and yogurt, a light spicy hint to give a bit more life. Very simple, clean and refreshing, though not very interesting. In terms of balance, the beer is more sweet than sour, but never too sweet, due to a very clean mouthfeel and a dry enough finish. Very light bodied as obvious, with average carbonation bringing a bit of life to a super easy/drinkable feel. Overall: a mildly sour and highly refreshing take on the style; well made at that, but not very interesting.

Pretty tame for style. Not very tart and not any "fruitness". 3% ABV is low even for this style. On closeout for $1.99.

BBD: not seen.
In short: average berliner weisse.
Did I enjoy it: not too much.
Pours some hazy pale golden with vanishing white head. Short head retention, poor lacing. Aroma is of solvent, tart, citrusy. Light body, high carbonation, slick texture. Taste is tart, lactic, some white wine like flavours, some vinegar, some barnyard. Average .

33 cl from beerhunter111, EU local swap 1/2018. Pours light golden with little head that died away in a few minutes. Could be I served it too cold. Subtle tartness, yummy fruity and really low alc (3%). I should get some more before the summer kicks in. An ideal light beer.

Drinked on tap at angolo dei 33 in Trento. On the nose old lemon, ceder and citronella. In mouth is light bodied but seems so full because a enjoyable tartness creates saliva, yellow green fruits and in the end the after taste is long and sweet. Liked it

Bottle from Geers. Hazy pale golden/white colour. White foam. Very lemony and tart taste but very drinkable. Tart, citrussy, even some floral notes in the nose. Very nice Berliner Weisse.

A really tasty berliner weisse. Deceptively tart considering its smoothness and overall balance. Pours golden and bright.
