A Barleywine from ibrew2or3. Should I be suprised? A: Pours an amberish brown hue with a rather small off white head. No retention or lace. S: Nice blast of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. Hints of dark fruit and roasty malt. T: Mild oxidation in this one, not necessarily a bad thing as it works here. Lots of sweet malt, hints of mild chocolate, and dark fruit. Light toffee, with hints of oak and vanilla. M: Medium in body, smooth, lite carbonation.

Thanks to Gillard for the share. Pours brown amber with a teeny off-white head. Nose is bourbon, malt, whiskey, plum, brown sugar, burn, booze, and goodness. Flavor is similar with bourbon, brown sugar, malt, and maple. Medium bodied for the style, finishing with a bare maltiness. Pretty good overall.

12oz bottle. This rating won’t be what it should be because my other browser froze right before I submitted it. Poured murky deeper brown with just a few loose bubbles around the ring of the glass. The aroma opened with sweet, enticing whiskey that lasted the whole way through.. deeper caramel and molasses supported along with vanilla from the barrel.. the molasses and whiskey worked the hardest here, and the whole thing was sweet and enjoyable. The flavor opened with syrupy molasses, vanilla, and caramel with whiskey and vanilla from the barrel not far behind.. molasses and caramel supported the middle.. sweet whiskey over molasses on the long, warm finish. Medium-bodied with very light carbonation on the palate.. surprisingly empty across the middle.. very sweet overall on the palate, with fine balance between the whiskey and the underlying beer.. this was a slow-drinkin’, warm digestif.

Hazy brown color, little or no head to speak of.The aroma was caramel and malty with some hints of maybe cherry in there as well as some hints of raisin and vanilla and booze. The flavor was very nice malty brew with some caramel and oak some hints of hops and plenty of alcohol, theres some hints of vanilla in the middle with a pretty good burn going down from the alcohol.Pretty good brew, not something i would want every day,i think it would all get to be a bit much after a while, but once a week would do nicely especially on a cold night like we have up here.I have to give a big thanks to my brew hook-up Jim for this brew who is no longer drinking and is getting rid of his stock along with shoping on ocassion in Anchorage for me.

Pour resembled dirty pond water. no carbonation to be seen. Nose is obviously bourbon forward, hints of vanilla, marshmallow, fig and plum. Taste is hard to decipher due to lack of carbonation, all the flavors kind of wash together. Good amount of alcohol heat, sweet fruits, fig, caramel and toffee, bourbon and lots of it.

Big thanks to rgtravers, I owe you one Ryan. Pours mahogany with amber edges and almost no head. The aroma smells great with musty malts, smooth chewy dark fruitiness and a bit of oxidation keepings things interesting. It them moves into notes of bourbon and oak. The taste begins sweet with creamy chewy malts, some caramel, plums, minced cherries, a modest level of whiskey and oak. Seems even more age can improve this brew.
