On tap at the brewery from notes taken at the time. Beer is a very dark black color cocoa colored head, not much lace down the glass. Smells of roastiness and coffee. Tastes a bit sweet and the roasted malt is nice. Mouthfeel is maybe a bit thin for the style. Overall a nice beer

Beerona97 (2399) - Washington, USA - DEC 7, 2010
Pint at the brewpub. Pours solid black with a frothy brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla bean, mild smoke. Taste has some smokiness again with lots of bitter chocolate malt. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Savvy1982 (1706) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 6, 2010
Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours black, medium dark tan head, nice lacing. Nose is cocoa and licorice nibs, with a lovely toasty roast character throughout. Flavours are surprisingly smoky, notes of cocoa, campfire smoke, ash, fudge, and toasty roast again. Excellent.

oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 10, 2010
Deep dark black color with a creamy brown head. The flavor is everything the aroma promises and more, with its thick roasted malt/chocolate flavors. Very Good

DuffMan (10981) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 31, 2008
Brewpub tap. Nearly black with generous roast and coffee aromas. Rich roast character, chocolate, coffee-- similar to the porter, but with more coffee and a more bitter finish. Delicious.

3.9
Skyview (6263) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 18, 2007
On draught at the Flanagan’s Central Station in Whitefish, Montana as "Flanagan’s Special Stout." Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a creamy off-white head that slowly dissolves to a fine film and thin lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malt, sweet milk chocolate, molasses and some flowery hops. Taste is smooth, creamy with a sweet molasses and chocolate flavor. Finish is smooth soft texture and a molasses aftertaste.
