UPDATED: JUL 30, 2020 Cask at The Rising Sun, Berkhamsted on 08/07/2010. BrewDog on handpump? It happened! Thought this was a really nice beer. slightly toasted malt and berries on the nose. Good body and nice building hoppy bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2019 On keg at Brewdog Lothian Rd, Edinburgh. Appearance - deep amber to brown with a thin head. Nose - malt loaf and slight red fruit note. Taste - dried orange and malt loaf. Palate - light to medium bodied. Roast/biscuit texture. Dry finish. Overall - good. Somewhere between amber and Irish red ale.

Pours brown with a creamy head. Aroma is malty. Pretty boring amber beer. Some malt flavour but not much else.

Opening very well, this beer got off to an excellent start thanks to how good the nose was when it came through with tonnes of caramel malts & sweetness, some toffees backing them up as well. Things changed after that though, the taste being an altogether different affair with less sweetness & caramel but a lot more bitterness & earthy flavours which weren’t too my liking after the great opening to the beer. Throughout it remained an enjoyable beer but sadly the change of direction wasn’t completely to my liking & I feel like I would have liked this one more had the caramel flavours continued throughout; nice stuff but nowhere near as good as the brewery’s 5 A.M. Saint for me I’m afraid.

Appearance- dark brown and opaque, a one-finger beige head which hangs around. Aroma- hops, brown bread, malt, toffee, hints of chocolate. Taste- caramel malt, underlying hop bitterness, slightly sweet in places, dark fruit, biscuity malt, fruitcake. Smooth mouthfeel.

Bottle at home from BewDog online. Anniversary reissue. Chestnut brown colour with s tan head. Aroma has plums, stewed fruit and dried fruit. Taste light bitter to mid bitter, slight dryness to finish. Medium body.

Bottle. Pours medium amber brown, opaque with a red hue. Tan head subsiding quick. Scent is medium strong notes of caramel Mali, amber Ale yeast. Taste is consistent. Finish is light and frothy. Great.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2017 Aroma 7/20, Appearance 4/5, Taste 7/20, Palate 3/5, Overall 14/20. Comments: 330ml bottle from Brewdog online. Pours a reddish brown colour with a creamy foam head leaving lots of lacing. Nose of malt, bready, fruity hop. Taste is malty, boiled sweets, blackcurrant note, and fruity hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
