Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Draft at TND. Poured a clear dark golden in color with a medium sized white frothy head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pilsner malts, piney and citrus hops. Taste is crisp and clean with solid notes of american hops, , caramel, pine, citrus, pilsner malts, lager yeast. Nicely hopped and quite drinkable.

I have a fever. And the only prescription is more Mikeller. This beer had more Mikkeller in it than last.

Draft @ Blind Tiger. Orange pour with white head. Higher abv pilsner, is nice for eight percent, has more complexity than typical style, more of a hoppy pale ale, citrus, grapefruit, and pine.

Bottle: Pours a dull straw color with a large, frothy off-white head. Lots of sticky lacing. Not much of a nose, some light malty sweetness and a little citrus. Not what one expects when it reads ’malt liquor’ on the label. Tastes more like the high gravity lager I expected. Lightly malty sweet with minimal hops. Faint yeast presence. Sort of a syrupy feel. Alcohol burn is distracting. Not what I’d hoped for, but sort of what I’d expected. Looks like I’m against the grain on my final rating, but imho this is what I came up with after spending two hours of my Saturday sipping and contemplating. That makes me sad.

On tap at Beer Temple. Very hoppy nose. Really great hopped up flavour of pines and citrus. Thought it much more like an IPA than a European Strong Lager. Could definitely drink this all night.

Tap @ Beertemple. Golden colored brew. Grassy, floral hops. Hoppy, pine, melon in the flavor. Fresh, apple. Nice.
