Jul 3, 2008 Very similar to the Divine Vamp III in that it is an IBA with massive citrusy hops and a roasted malty backbone. Perhaps this has more mocha and molasses flavors stemming from the black sugar they put in. Aggressively bitter finsih.
Very nice.

Jul 16, 2009 Pours a deep brown color with a ruby tint and a light brown head. Aroma is malty, caramel, roast, some chocolate, and very intense piny citrus hops. Flavor is roast, caramel, toast, and a very flavorful piny citrus hop finish. Really good dark hoppy beer.

Jun 29, 2009 Draught at the Fishmarket and Towers. Dark body with a beige head. The hops are prevalent throughout the aroma and flavor. Bitter, malty, light molasses sweetness, fruits, some floral, pine, and a touch of chocolate. Very enjoyable beer.

Jan 8, 2009 on tap at the nakameguro taproom. deep black with some purple around the edges of the glass and a lasting light brown head. the dryhopping showed through in the aroma with the amarillo really standing out, also some hints of pine and moss. burnt raisin toast flavour with hints of red berry, complex flavour with hints of caramelised stonefruits, similar to an imperial stout

Black with a fine tan head. Strong hop aroma, with burnt malt and chocolate. Flavor of burning hops, coffee, chocolate, dark malt, caramel and a bit of dark fruit. Dry, hoppy finish; burning, bitter and burnt. Dry and long-lasting. Very interesting, hoppy and burnt beer. Dry and bitter with almost enough malt to balance. Could be a bit sweeter. A bit too bitter, but still nice.

Jul 4, 2008 Tried with TimE at Bulldog pub in Tokyo. Let me first say that Im impressed with Tim and his ability to try 67/77 of Bairds beers, when most people have tried a 0-3. Interesting hoppy aroma. Some chocolate. Mild hop bitterness. Dark brown color. These black IPAs throw me for a loop. They either confuse me or I dont like them. Reminds me of my early attempts at trying sours, but now I realize they wont kill me, and I love them. Im not sure about these black IPAs. They still might kill me.

Sep 6, 2009 Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is of light hops, some chocolate malts, and caramel. Hops come out a little more on the flavor but not as much as I was expecting them to. Some chocolate and molasses come out on the flavor as well. Slight bitter finish.
