Good balance between sweet, roasty then a hoppy finish. Maybe a tad thin palate and a little dry to boot but most brews w/ oatmeal tend to be that way, or so I’ve found. sallad (115), USA

Dark chocolate in the nose, with hints of charred earth and wood, faint spice of hops. A little bitey up front, then bitter bakers chocolate mixed with orange peels. Kinda harsh, but finishes thick with black malt. richlikebeer (834), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2005 pours a dark brown, but not totally solid, with hints of amber, a thin layer of tan cream head stayed on the beer the whole time. has a very malty aroma, nothing else really going on there. a little sweetness, alot of maltiness in the flavor, just a tad taste of chocolates towards the end. a little bitter on the tail, and it stays in your mouth after each swallow. a medium body, with a nice mouthfeel. this was my first brew from this brewer, and i am looking forward to the rest of their fare i have in my cellar.
thanks to goldtwins for this. Megan (101), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Aroma of typical porter except for a bit if tin. Taste is very malty with a bittersweet chocolate. Perhaps they use a very high quality chocolate. Very smooth with a bit of a lively mouth. Nice.
