| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 19, 2010 Updated: Feb 24, 2010Robust flavor but a bit on the thin side, Highland’s Black Mocha Stout pours a nearly opaque dark brown with some red highlights and a rocky tan head. Aroma is deep with black coffee notes which form the basis of the flavor. A little sweetness creeps in at the swallow but a burnt bitterness overtakes it quickly then fades into a long roasty finish. Flavor is heavily smoky throughout. Brewbie (250), New York, USA
