COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dunkelweizen translates into "dark wheat" and the beer is a darker version of the Bavarian wheat beers of the 15th century. Dark amber brown in color, this unfiltered ale is brewed with traditional Bavarian yeast, which imparts a wide spectrum of flavors and aromas from spicy clove and nutmeg to tropical fruit and banana. The result is a beer that is complex and flavorful, medium-bodied with a crisp finish.

From the 12 oz. can with a best by date of Jan 2019. Golden-amber pour with a tremendous coral white head and lacing. Big aroma of sweet wheat, hay, banana, coriander, and Allspice. Subtly toasty. The body is smooth. medium or better. It is sweet and spicy with a warming, soothing finish.

This isn't one of my favorite styles, but I enjoyed this one. Got it in the Harvest Collection, so had a few in there I hadn't sampled yet. Medium brown to amber cloudy unfiltered appearance. Aroma is wheaty with some sour fruit in there. Flavor is caramel, wheat, some sweet and sour fruit....with a decent hop finish. Like a "poor man's" Belgian. I would get this again.

Deep, fairly hazy light brown and almost a light copper and bronze coloured body with a thick, super dense four to five centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of yeast, bread, alcohol, light grain, some subdued malts and more yeast, but the bananas, cloves and belgian yeast note are beyond evident. Medium-bodied; Super pungent yeasty bite with a big grain and malt side of things with a nice sweetness from citrus and lighter fruits and a dose of carmelised sugars as well. Aftertaste shows yeast, light grain, some bread and a dose of bubble gum and bananas, but mostly just a bready, grainy finish with some moderate complexity, but nothing harsh or pungent at all. Overall, a nice and elegant beer that shows well for the style throughout, but nothing pungent, too harsh and especially exciting that makes this a must drink. That said, for the style, this is very respectable, especially as easy as this would be to get, plus the convenience of the can, and even more enjoyable - the price point I had for this one! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from GlenRo Spirit Shoppe in Monroe, Connecticut on 10-March-2018 for US$1,00 sampled at home on the Eastern shore of Virginia in Pungoteague, Virginia on 19-April-2018.

Light amber, crystal clear, tall and lasting head. Aromatic nose. Medium to full body, flavorful, silky texture, foamy and vibrant mouthfeel, moderate heat, long aftertaste. Modestly bitter, off dry, refreshing and crisp. Predominantly malty, biscuit, yeasty. Surprisingly enjoyable for someone not a fan of the style, very well made. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz can from Wegmans, West Seneca. A slightly hazy golden amber pour with a tight cream head; arom a of wheat, yeast, spice and cloves; soft in the mouth with gentle spices and caramel, and then a touch of spice & banana to finish. Much lighter in colour than a German Dunkel, but otherwise true to style.

Pour from a 12oz can - fall canned beers collection. Clear medium brown brew with tan head. Very engaging aroma of fruit, banana, clove, coriander - very much in the wit / wheat family. Taste is mildly sweet up front with rich fruity notes, some tartness with clove, banana and fruit. Finishes with a sour / tart fruit taste, though weakens somewhat at the very end where I would look for a flourish of taste. Palate is average verging on thin.
