Pitch black with thick tan head and spotty lacing. Thick, creamy, and viscous bodied. Big chocolate nose. Coffee, roast and malts all up front. Bittersweet chocolate finish. Alcohol was well masked. Another great Imperial stout from the state of Michigan!

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2009 12 ounce bottle thanks to pantanap, my 100th Imperial Stout rating. Pours a dark black color with a medium brown head. A sour aroma; tart cherries, roasted malts, light fruit. A odd, almost bizarre flavor; tartness is overpowering initially, sour cherries and wood, rich roasted malts, cocoa and coffee, salty, a odd brew. Nice though, a interesting brew. I assume the sourness is intentional? rsmeds (226), Turku, Finland

Pitch black. Small brown head.
Oaky, sherrylike sweetish roasted malt dominate aroma.
Sweet and sour flavor, very intense, with notes of grapes and alcohol sweetneess.
Mild carbonation, full bodied, dryish mouthfeel.
A bit too intensely sweet and sour for my taste. Otherwise a very interesting brew. oh6gdx (9526), Vasa, Finland

Very deep brown, close to opaque black dark colour, brown mediumsized head. Aroma is liquorice, alcohol, chocolate oak and ashes with some roast. Also some dark fruits and plummy sweetness. Flavour is very much the same with a quite oily, but still carbonated palate. A bit too sweet for my taste. SuIIy (1586), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2009 Way too much dark fruit for me. Some raisin and maybe even cherry notes. Drier finish than expected. Not quite enough complexity, some chocolate notes and a bit of coffee but you really have to search for it. JasonG (711), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2009 draft at brew kettle - Totally opaque black color with almost non-existant tan head. Aroma is very roasty, with notes of coffee, ash, fair presence of anise, bit yeasty. Flavor is also pretty roasty, but with a fairly solid malty background, bit salty, with ash and a touch of dark chocolate. Finish is actually a bit thin with a mildlyh bitter finish. A good brew, but really doesn’t stand out from the sea of imperial stouts out there. msante79 (928), Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA

Aroma is powerful with roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and molassas. Flavor is loaded with coffee, chocolate, roasted malt with some vanilla and dark fruits. Finishes with a tartness of sour cherries. Smooth on palate with very good mouthfeel. This is a very good imperial stout and one the more complex brews I have had in a while. This is what I hope Bells BB Cherry Stout was going to be. Cheers to Kuhnhenn for an awesome beer and taking chances. DuffManSW (348), Riverside, California, USA
