Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Pours a beautiful red with a very thin beige head. Aroma is completely dominated by cherries. The taste is again dominated by cherries, but you also get a sweet kick that combines into one fantastic brew. Very drinkable beer and probably the best fruit beer out there. This is one that I could drink over and over again!

Another often enjoyed favorite that I thought I reviewed years ago, but forgot. I probably didn’t want to put my glass down to write! This time, a shared 750 ml. bottle at a local brewpub tasting session. Poured a deep ruby tone, with white, bubbly foam to the head, and clingy dots and ribbons of lacing. The aroma was totally dominated by a rich, sweet cherry scent that reminded me of the cherry kijafa that my mom broke out in small aperitif glasses for special family dinners. The flavor was again, rich cherry, with some tartness, an added note of vanilla, and presented with lively carbonation. A little bit of Wisconsin heaven!

Traveled up to Milwaukee to purchase this beer (and others from NewGlarus). 750 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown, with a red hued head. Out of this world aroma. One of cherries and spice. Flavor is full blown cherry but very fresh and real tasting. Incredibly drinkable and nicely carbonated. Every cherry lover must have this.

750 ml bottle as a birthday gift from a friend who bought on eBay. Enjoyed on my birthday -- thanks, Tina! Pours a muddy reddish brown, highly carbonated with an off-white head. Aroma is fantastic -- full of dark cherries and spiced cherry pie filling. Flavor is full of cherries, of course. It is obvious that it is not cherry juice nor cherry syrup that has been added here as the cherry flavor is much too earthy -- both tart and sweet. There is also a cinnamon flavor in there as well. Effortlessly drinkable and nicely carbonated -- very much what I would imagine a cherry mimosa to taste like. This one is all about the cherries and fortunately I love cherry. Very happy to have tried this one. (225, 1006)

25 oz bottle from Vince, a very generous trader. Pours a hazy reddish mahogany with a fizzy, fast dissipating off white head. Aroma of sweet and tart cherry pie. The flavor is intense cherries that start sweet and finish tart and sour, the malt also provides a bit of a sweet graham cracker crust taste. The beer is medium to light bodied with an active carbonation that tickles your palate, the finish is amazingly clean and keeps you going back for more. This is really an amazing fruit beer, I can’t remember ever having a fruit beer that tasted so much like real fruit and not extract. Vince, thanks a bunch for this excellent treat.

( 750ml bottle) Pours clear deep red with nice oily bubbles. Nose of cherry pie filling, florals, oak. Taste of sweet/tart cherries, wet barrel and a very tart cherry finish. This is well carbonated, creamy, and an awesome fruit beer.

Bottle. Dark red (with a touch of brown) color with a nice off white head. The aroma is candy and/or soap like. Small sourness. Taste is a little vinous, very very fruity with a small sourness. Compared to the New Glarus Raspberry Tart, this one is more of an "ordinary" beer. You can feel the malt and hops in the background. Thick mouthfeel, smooth.

Bottle. Pours red with a light beige head. Aroma of a soap store and some tartness. Fruity sweet tasting.
