From a 22 oz bottle this poured a cloudy orange with small head and not a lot of l;acing. Nose was kind of a harsh piney hops, and a little differerent. Mouthfeel was quite rich, and flavors were also a bit odd. Overall this seems to be missing something. Tastes a little like some homebrews I have seen recently from friends who are still honing their skills. Having said all that, when I finally swigged down the last drop, I was ready for another. So what gives?

Mar 4, 2010 tap in Seattle back in august 07-deep orange with foamy off-white head with a bit of lacing. floral nose with lots of sweet tangerines and other citrus. lots of hop flavors but not much malt to speak of. pretty one-dimensional. not very complex, but overall decent. I remember this used to rate much higher. This beer is just another hop fix, but an ok one.

Sep 25, 2009 I’ve had this beer for about 6 months, this is the second bottle. First one had a huge citrus and resiny hop aroma. This bottle however has mellowed over time. Still a very good beer though, but it doesnt have the huge hop hit it had.

Aug 3, 2009 Orange pour with a creamy white head and lace. A hard citrus orange like aroma. Very citrus hops without a lot of malt to back it up. A tad thin and foamy.

Jul 5, 2009 22oz bomber. Thick, just about opaque brown-orange color. The aroma is rather rugged, with some deep, piny, alcohol laced, hoppy, butterscotch which seems a bit off. Relatively mild carbonation for the style. Earthy toffee, and some thick malt make up the heart if this beer, and there is some thick, resiny hops to even it all out. Different in a lot of ways than your typical IIPA. Never comes off as an alcohol bomb, just full bodied and flavorful.

May 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Hasa sweetish malty hoppy bitter aroma with hints of citrus and caramel. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter flavor with hints of grapefruit and some hints of caramel. Has a sweetish malty and warming bitter hoppy finish wit a long bitter aftertaste.

Mar 14, 2009 Deep orange pour with frothy white head. Malt bill seems big on this one, but hops are very apparent. Flavor is sweet, sticky and hoppy...nice.

Mar 8, 2009 Impressive looking - orange with a semi-rocky thich head and very thick lacing. Semi-clear. Aroma of caramel surprised me a bit seeing as how it is an IIPA. Also somewhat floral and very pleasant. Palate is very balanced. Monstrous amounts of malt and hops. Very well done and very underrated, IMO.

Feb 9, 2009 A- Pours a clear dark orange hue with a small creamy head that is mostly diminishing, watery lacing sticks somewhat to the glass
S- Two words: Grape Nuts, this DIPA has a distinct earthy/dirt/grain aroma that reminds me of bran cereal, the yeasty and sweet malts dominate the citrus hops (the label states 5 kinds of hops used)
T- Initial taste is of dry, bitter hops with a mix of pine and citrus, followed by sweet malts and that pervasive herbal/floral presence indicative of Butte Creek’s organic take on things, finishes with sweet, sticky hops and a warming alcohol presence
M- Medium bodied DIPA, oily and thick mouthfeel sticks to the mouth, nice lively carbonation
D- Approaching 9%, you can definitely feel the alcohol warming and I would probably not want to drink more than a few pints, I am surprised at the lack of hop presence in this DIPA, although I may be biased by all the local SD DIPA Hop Nuclear Bomb
