Not that it’s bad but these aroma I get too much from mediocre German beers. Pale yellow color, white head that diminishes completely, no lace. Grainy start, light malty, rather hopbitter which turns into a metallic bitterness. Very light. Again, it’s not bad but no joy to drink it either. jokazi (8), Sarasota, Florida, USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 17, 2005 One of the Best Kolsch! Aromas of hay, malt, grass and meadow. Flavor is a complex melange of hops (but not bitter), herbs, and hay, with just a hint of malt and barley. Wonderful with a ham sandwich. Aroma of herbs and grass with a touch of mild hops. Taste is of hops with a hint of corn. Overall the beer was light and refreshing, though as was expected not brimming with complexity. Apple, pear, lemon and cracker flavors. Medium bodied with a crisp, carbonated mouthfeel, finishes clean. This may be the best of this style I have ever tried, very drinkable. guzzler67 (1296), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2005 Very light, clear gold appearance with a small head and little lacing. Aroma of whole wheat bread. Light bodied;; highly carbonated. Malty, crisp fruit taste up front followed by a dry, clean, hoppy finish. asheft (1645), Marburg, Germany
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 23, 2005 Clear pale straw that forms a fizzy white blanket that quickly dissipates to a ring of fine bubbles. Aroma of noble hops and crisp malt, soda crackers, and a little skunk. Flavour is a sharp blast of malt with some noble hops flavour and an unpleasant bitterness that might not be from hops-sort of like tea, but not astringent...Chinese tea. Some soda cracker flavour comes through also. Light body with good carbonation. I think that this just might not be a style for me, or the bottle wasn’t stored properly, since the reviews indicate that this is a better beer.
