Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU, but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars. People who do not like Ipa’s will actually be amazed, the general hop bomb addict will not understand, so yes this is a controverse brew... enjoy anyway!

Not bad, not great. Must not have enough Mikkeller in it. It really should have more Mikkeller in it.

Bottle. Pour is cloudy yellow with a fairly large tan head. This beer has notes of citrus hop, light malty/ wheat-like malt, lightly floral, and crisp. It’s easy to drink and hides 9% quite well.

Pours a bright and clear copper-red-orange color. If you pour the entire bottle, it becomes cloudy from the yeat at the bottom. Huge, very thick sudsy head. Hops dominate the aroma. Taste is also dominated by hops w/ notes of grapefruit and spice. Underlying tones of malt and caramel. Surprisingly somewhat of a creamy texture. This is good and hop heads would melt for this, but it’s a little extreme for me. Still, highly respected.

33cl bottle. Cloudy sparkling amber beer with a great white head that stays the whole time. Aroma is full of hop, flowers and some Belgian yeast. Taste starts with nice floral touches and ends in a beatifull bitterness with lots of hops. The aftertaste is bitter and dry and stays very long. Body is medium and the carbonization is good. A very good IPA that really combines the best of two worlds!

Nice hazy bronze coloured body with lightish brown coloured tints and a perfectly topped tan head - absolutely perfect. Aroma of fresh floral hops, alcohol, grapefruit, grass, fresh pineapple and some jasmine. Medium-bodied; Sharp hoppy flavour at first with good grapefruit and slightly floral hops tucked in with a perfect malt backbone, some alcohol and a very mild caramel and sweet finish. Aftertaste shows the hop bitterness, some of the sweetness and a good complex grassy or almost biere de garde taste. Overall, a very nice beer, definitely showing the hops of an IPA (not double, thank you!) with the complexity of a belgie. Definitely good to try, and the simple fact that RateBeer is mentioned on this one makes it that much better! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-October-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 24-January-2010.

Wow. This is a sensational drop. First 135 IBU deserves special praise. Second two awesome European breweries collaberating with each with a cool Rate Beer note by supremo Joe. Also this is one for the hop heads! It’s a hop bomb! But a Belgian-Danish hop bomb! A very musty perfume smell lingers in the air. A faint dash of light fruits maybe strawberries and also pine and butterscotch. During the tasting the pine amber taste prominent from Scandinavia is very evident. However the Belgian full bodied yeast is awe inspiring. Top that with what I suspect is US hops such as the popular Challenger and a similar aftertaste to big name American craft beers then you get one very special beer. Wow. I poured this at home from a 33cl bottle to my beermechants’ glass. I imported this particular bottle from Cracked Kettle.com. I want to try this on tap.

Beer #2 in a "Collaboration Trifecta". The beer pours a hazy orange-amber color with a medium fluffy light beige head that diminishes slowly. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops, bready malt and fruit. Medium, smooth body with a soft hops character that is increasingly bitter. Flavors of sweet malt and candy as well. The finish is hoppy and yeasty with a lingering bitterness left behind. Pretty good overall.

Bottle courtesy of DeputyAndy. Pour is yellow/orange. Spiced wheat and orange, lemon, tang. Bitter finish. Interesting brew.
